Putting DC in the 2 hole has been perfect. That kid is about as mature with his ab’s and approach as it gets for someone his age. I’d just like this lineup to get a little longer with a guy with a track record.

Not really Cardinals news but El Hombre is above such designations. ;)
More of the story at KMOX
As one could probably imagine, Albert Pujols and the Los Angeles Angels did not split up on the best of terms last week.

According to USA Today columnist and Audacy MLB Insider Bob Nightengale, the future Hall of Famer feuded with manager Joe Maddon last Wednesday after he was informed he would not be in the starting lineup against the Rays.

As Nightengale details via two sources, Pujols was “yelling at Maddon” and told president John Carpino and GM Perry Minasian that he was neither going to retire nor ride the bench the rest of the season while ripping Maddon’s managerial skills.

Pujols was designated for assignment the next day.

Not the 2021 season but what Cardinal fan doesn't love what Freese did in 2011?
David Freese yelled at by Rangers fan: 'You ruined my life'

The former St. Louis Cardinals third baseman and hometown hero shared a hilarious story on Twitter about a run-in he had with a Rangers fan. From the Tweet, it sounds like he's been spending some time in Texas.

He says he was on a walk when a guy drove up next to him – stopped in the middle of the road – and asked: "Hey you David Freese... you ruined my life in high school. Go Rangers!!"

Freese was pretty entertained by the encounter, saying "Texas does have its perks #11in11"

DeJong to the IL with a rib fracture. To make room on 40 man roster for Memphis call-up IF Max Moroff, Hicks has been transferred to the 60-day IL. Move means Hicks won't be back til July 1 at the earliest.

Still don’t understand why announcers aren’t going to these games.

With the rate things are going with the vaccines and the lowering case counts, it wouldn't surprise me if announcers were on the roads with the teams by certainly August, if not September.

The home plate umpires strike has been about as inconsistent as I’ve seen. Many pitches out of the strike zone being called strikes and several pitches over the heart of the plate being called balls. Kim ha d several pitches that should have been strikes, that were called balls.

I'm glad the Cards caught San Diego without Tatis and several other players. Otherwise the weekend series could have been disastrous.

Don't you love when pitchers are struggling and then face us and just seem to get their sh*t figured out. Then the next game they look like @$$ again.

yes but since StL is in first place it's kinda difficult to complain too much. They have to be doing something right.

It seems like it's a trend going back many years. But you are right. I shouldn't complain when in first and two pitchers with ERAs over or near 5 shut us down.

Just as long as you understand. That's all that matters. ;)

As far as Alzolay's concerned, He's a pretty good pitcher. He got roughed up in his first game against Milwaukee. Had a mediocre start in his second game. After that he's been pretty good. His ERA has dropped nearly every game after his poor first one. He hasn't walked any one in his last three games. Only one in all of May. During this time 18 hits in 23 innings. That's a whip of 0.826. How many pitchers would YOU like to have that's been this effective? He's 26 and it looks like he is learning to pitch in the MLB.
The problem is with the Cardinals. If they dont hit home runs, they don't score runs.

Awfully discouraging when the Cardinals shut out the Cubs at home for 9 innings and still manage to lose the game.

There were a lot of players that didn't come through but Bader's base running blunder was a major reason for the loss. He was doubled off second right before the Sosa double. He would have scored and the game would not have gone to the 10th.

"How do you Cards fans feel about last night?"
"If they dont hit home runs, they don't score runs."

I dont know how to quote multiple people on here anymore. So that's my best attempt. Right now we don't have faith in our team scoring runs unless we hit a homer. No one can come through with base hits when runners are in scoring position. And tonight I have no faith either. Flaherty is 8-0 and gets more than 5 runs of support a game, but tonight we will be facing a young stud. I expect us to lose like 3-0.

Giolito has struggled a little bit because I think he is trying to do too much. He seems to be over throwing at times and gets himself in trouble. He can be gotten to this year but if he starts out real hot, watch out. I feel like we see a crazy good pitching matchup with both guys trying to one up the other. Who gets into the other teams bullpen, I think we determine this game.

How do you Cards fans feel about last night? (Not coming on here to gloat just wanted a different perspective) Tonight should be a real good one.
I didn't watch the whole game. But from what I saw, Lynn pitched a heck of a game. Facing St Lou for the 1st time since they let him go, he had every reason to go for it. I would have scored the first base hit an error on Anderson.Especially when a no hitter was on the line. I have a feeling if that had been the only "hit" the official scorer would have found an excuse to change his ruling after the game.
Kim is still trying to establish himself after missing time due to injury. He was in and out of trouble all night long. For the most part he made his way through it but he was spent by the time he got to the 6th. If I was the mgr I am not sure I would have pulled him either. It's a tough decision to make. I don't get all warm and fuzzy when Ponce De Leon comes into the game so if those are my only two options, 90-10 I go with the fatigued Kim.
Putting Carpenter at first base is a horrible idea.

I realize Luis Robert is on the IL, but St Lou has been hit hard too. Bader, O'Neill and De Jong are out of the lineup. Carlson was back only because they don't have another option. Goldy and Arenado seem to struggle especially when runners are on base.

I guess they will go back out and try again.
