So glad that I didn't buy the baseball package, was considering it when they traded for Nolan.
With the sale of FSM to Bally's , Cardinal telecasts are not available on my Hulu live package....first time in many many years I haven't been able to watch all of the games...MLB blacks out 2 teams in my area and one is the Cardinals....
With the way they are going I am not as upset as I thought I would be.....i still watch the ESPN broadcasts but mainly just watch the updates and game story highlights on my phone....
Puzzling year and wonder how Jeff Albert still has a job..............

Fair question, but that could have been asked for the past couple of years.

That's 100 accurate.....frustrating to see one game won 9-1 with 12 hits, then 3-4 games in a row with 6 or fewer hits......Mabry did as good a job or better than Albert, when he was hitting coach................ IMHO

2 hits so far through 4 innings. It's great. O'neill walked twice which is great, but of course we also have 2 gidps. Gr8!

Could be worse. My folks have Dish Network and, unless things change, in August it will be 2 years that they haven't been able to watch Cardinals games though I really pin that more on Dish than FSM/Bally's. At this point, there's only about 3 or 4 RSN's that Dish still has available. Heck in central Illinois for the last 2 years you can't watch any of the local teams you would want (Cardinals/Blues/Bulls/'Hawks/White Sox) on either FSM/Bally or NBC Sports Chicago if you have Dish Network.

Sounds like everyone will buy it streaming next year for $20 to $30 per month. I’m not sure I’ll be watching. Definitely won’t if Nolan opts out.

Will today be the day that Bill Dewitt finally says I am done with Mo, Maddux, and Albert? Possibly even Schildt....

This is getting embarrassing.

It’s really all on Mo. He hired Matheny and Shildt; guys who had not managed a day in the big leagues. I think Mo’s roster has kind of hamstrung Shildt this year. Who really wanted to see Gant or Martinez in the rotation. Mo is lucky Waino has been good as he was awful on the road last year.

I contend this is the team Mo expected this year. Playing out the season while contracts come off the books next year.

In defense of Mo, player development was a casualty of the epidemic but I don’t think it really would have helped that much.

It just seems obvious to me that Mo screwed up when he followed Herzog and LaRussa with Matheny and Shildt when he could have gone Francona and Giradi.

Wonder if any teams inquire about Waino before the trade deadline?

Every team faced the same player development issue with Covid.

This whole organization is on the brink of going down the toilet with Mo at the helm. The new has worn off

Even a week ago if you told me they would drop 3 of 4 at home to Pitt I wouldn't have believed it. This team is playing horrific.

And you won't often see Cardinals fans booing their team at home but in this case it is absolutely warranted. Especially against a team that is, for all intents and purposes, tanking.

He's better than 4/5 of our rotation right now and I don't have a clue how qell he's pitching, or even if he is
not so well. 2 - 4 ERA 4.62 WHIP 1.24
On the other hand 37 K to 11 BB in 37 inn. Batters hitting .248

3 to 1 K:BB...bring him up. Season is wasted anyway, let's see what he can do.

Trade Martinez and Carpenter for scherzer and bring him up. Get captain Jack back and we can possibly make a run if our offense gets a clue

No way does the front office start the clock on Liberatore. As you said it's a lost season so why lose him a year earlier than they have to?
Martinez and Carpenter are not worth anything. Probably can't get a Class A bench player for them. You don't want them why would any other organization?

Liberatore won't get called up until after the Olympics if at all this season. He's currently on the U.S. Olympic baseball team and loses his chance to play on the team if he gets called up to the major league roster.

Sorry I brought up Liberatore. He’s not ready but might have been if not for Covid.

The problem is Mo. His coaching staffs (2 of them) and his roster. Look how fast the Giants turned it around while we’ve been in decline for awhile.

St. Louis Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak recently said that the club was happy with their coaching staff, including hitting coach Jeff Albert, who has come under public fire in recent seasons. But after yet another loss, this time against the Pittsburgh Pirates, second baseman Tommy Edman said something that should have the team concerned and possibly changing their thinking.

“I don’t think we’ve necessarily done the greatest job of making a game plan for how guys are gonna throw us day by day and working on things pregame,” Edman said, via Bally Sports Midwest. “I think we’re going to start to implement a few more of those things.”

It’s a clear shot directed at Albert, though it’s unclear how the Cardinals plan to implement new things offensively. Considering that Mozeliak recently said that the coaching staff is safe,

their .225 team batting average ranks 28th in baseball. Their 293 runs ranks 26th in baseball. Their .671 OPS ranks 26th

Redbird rants

It's possible the team does not make a mid season move with the coaching staff but they more than likely will do something after the season.
It all depends on how much cutting they will do. If it's only the hitting coach, that can be done at any time. If it's the whole staff they might wait until the season's over. Unless of course they have the new manager lined up and waiting in the wings.

The thing I find most frustrating is that St Louis should be one of the prime franchise destinations. LA, NY, Chicago along with Phillie to name a few. They should not have to pick up a manager who has never coached at all (Matheny) or even one who has never coached in the majors before (Schildt). As individuals, I am sure they are very nice guys. I simply don't want them learning on the job when they get here.

If the Cardinals end up turning it around this month (and I'll grant you there's no guarantee that they will), we could look back at tonight's game being a turning point for the season.

Was surprised to hear them mention on the broadcast that tonight was Molina's first HR at Colorado. For as long as he's played on the team, you would have thought he would have hit one out of Coors Field before tonight. The only NL ballpark he's played in and never homered in in a regular season game was Shea Stadium (though I think most Cardinals fans on here would gladly take the other home run he had in that ballpark).
