If the Cardinals end up turning it around this month (and I'll grant you there's no guarantee that they will), we could look back at tonight's game being a turning point for the season.

Was surprised to hear them mention on the broadcast that tonight was Molina's first HR at Colorado. For as long as he's played on the team, you would have thought he would have hit one out of Coors Field before tonight. The only NL ballpark he's played in and never homered in in a regular season game was Shea Stadium (though I think most Cardinals fans on here would gladly take the other home run he had in that ballpark).
He just had another home run recently at a park he hadn’t hit one before.

But Shea Stadium was demolished in 2009.

Alex Reyes joining Arenado as the only Cardinals to make the All-Star team.

I'll be surprised if Reyes even pitches in the game (at least late anyway) considering the other closers that Dave Roberts will have available.

Yadi snub is disrespectful and he deserves being picked....i think I remember he leads catchers in RBI's so far this year.......

And with tonight's loss in San Francisco, the Cardinals have played their final game west of the Rockies for the regular season. And aside from a brief road trip to play at the Mets in mid-September, the remaining road trips for the Cardinals will all be within the NL or AL Central.

Simba was my favorite player after Gibby and Brock retired. I almost walked away from the Cardinals when Whitey traded him to the Brewers. It was a good thing I stayed with St Lou and made the Brewers my favorite AL team. 1982 was a very enjoyable year for me. My wife and I even got tickets to the Brewers - Angles AL Championship Series Game 4. (I wore my Cardinals cap to the cap.)

Cardinals to unveil Ted Simmons statue and retire Hall of Fame catcher’s number

The Cardinals plan to honor National Baseball Hall of Fame catcher Ted Simmons with a bronze statue outside of Busch Stadium.
The statue will be unveiled on Saturday, July 31 ahead of the Redbirds 6:15 p.m. game against the Minnesota Twins.
The organization will also retire Simmons’ uniform number 23.
Chairman Bill DeWitt, Jr. said. “We are proud to honor Ted before his Hall of Fame induction this Fall and add him to the exclusive group of ten individuals who have both a statue outside of Busch Stadium and their uniform number retired."
It will have a place of honor next to the other 11 statues outside of Busch Stadium. The last statue to be added to the group was of Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith in August 2002.
Simmons is the 15th person to have his number retired with the Cardinals. The last person to have their number retired was Hall of Fame Manager Tony La Russa who wore number 10. La Russa’s number was retired in May 2012.
The Cardinals drafted him in the first round in 1967. He made his major league debut at 19 years old.

He was my favorite growing up. I was a catcher in little league in the 70's. I had longish hair and even tried switch hitting (with limited success) to emulate Simmons.

I love it when we have bases loaded and 2 outs. I can always make a quick $20 we will strike out looking! Thanks Bader, I owe you a beer

Yadi looks sluggish behind the plate tonight.

What is better, the fox broadcast is talking about the plan at the plate. The giants see something on Kim and hacking first pitch, the Cardinals looked scrambled. Loosely translated. We are currently winning though.

I'm about to quit sports. It's been an infuriating time lately. Not just Cards. All teams I have a rooted interest in.

Was only able to catch bits and pieces of tonight's game due to watching the re-airing of the opening ceremonies for the Olympics but it sounded like C.B. Bucknor's strike zone was questionable at times.
All strike zones suck. These umps are getting worse and worse. It's both ways too.

The zone was inconsistent. John and Ricky mentioned that in the broadcast too. Just one game but we have to take the series. The Reds have been tough this year. It feels like Votto has been a Cardinals killer this season - very timely hitting. 3hits & 2 RBIs

Its about time Shildt steps up and earns his money. Quite frankly think he is a horrible manager. If ever there was a reason to get thrown out of a game it was last night. CB was all over the place calling strikes and it seriously was in favor of the Reds.. Not saying he was doing it on purpose but he was clearly letting their catcher manipulate the zone framing pitches. Shildt did nothing..

I don't get the cardinals games this year b/c of the sale to ballys, but i have seen enough of CB Buckner to know he is the worst or tied with Angel hernandez for being the worst umpire in baseball....
I'm perplexed why the cardinals are playing such mediocre baseball with the lineup they have....i watch gametracker on my phone to follow most nights and last night plus the loss to the cubs when they got 6 runs in the top of the ninth to beat the cards has soured me also on Shildt.......and Mo and all the others running the team....Wong being on the brewers and leading the division is awful....

Wong not being on the Cardinals is just depressing. And the fact that Edman hadn't been that good since middle of May makes it worse.

How about this home plate umpire making no attempt to help the Cardinal catcher after getting hit by a foul ball and falling backwards. Just let’s him fall.
