DENVER — At a ballpark famous for how quickly a lead can vanish, the Cardinals learned that in the pitch-clock era it’s a whole game that can get away fast.
With both teams sprinting through the early innings, the Colorado Rockies outran the Cardinals to a 7-4 victory Monday night in 2 hours, 14 minutes at Coors Field. The Rockies did not hit a home run. They didn’t need to. Through eight innings they peppered the Cardinals for 13 hits and turned line drive singles or infield singles into runs all the same.
Infielder Alan Trejo tied a career high with three hits — all of them singles.
His leadoff single against Steven Matz in the third inning started the first rally of the game, and his RBI single in the fourth inning snapped the 2-2 tie the Cardinals had created in the top of the fourth. Colorado pressed on from there, chasing Matz from the game in the sixth inning after scoring six runs on nine hits against the lefty. Seven of them were singles, including the last hit he allowed on an elevated curveball. In four career starts at Coors Field, Matz (0-2) has yet to win.

That late in the game, just challenge it!

Bally postgame didn’t mention anything about the tag. They talked about home plate.
30 seconds seems like a very short amount of time to wait for your video peeps to tell you if you have a case or not to challenge.....I didn't see if Oli got into it with the umps over the time limit not allowing him to challenge.......

read an article on my phone last night about Marmol being on the warm seat already this year with the Cardinals record and the deal with TON..............

I'm so glad that Walker is hitting enough to stay in the lineup........I hope he starts at least 150 games in the dance this year .....could be a ROTY candidate...........

If Marmol is on the hotseat, when is management and ownership going to take responsibility for their recent managerial hires?

I was thinking the same thing. 11 runs, a slew of base hits but not a single homer in that ballpark. So far, the Cards are a major disappointment, playing far below their capabilities.

I am generally not one to go after the manager with a pitchfork and torch but I am at a loss to see any indication that this is heading the right way and I am kind of digging my pitchfork out of the shed to see if it is ready. I had much higher hopes for this year that I see unfolding.

O’Neill swinging at that slider 16” from a strike. Looks like that guy who used to play SS. I think his name was DeJesus or DeJung or DeSomething.

For whatever reason I can't get the KMOX game coverage on the Audacy app. Not here not anywhere.
Well, it seems if I go to KMOX.com, I can connect using wifi or cellular from home. So now I can listen while I mow the lawn.Yay! I can almost see the KMOX tower from my backyard. Back in a previous life (1983-1984) when I was a truckdriver I would listen to Cardinal games on KMOX after dark from PA to Co to FL to TX and everywhere in between. Things sure have changed since those days.

6 straight hits. Terrifying, because we don't have one stopper in this rotation.
