Cards (19-26) no longer have the worst record in the NL, now ahead of the the Nationals (18-26), and only one half game behind the Rockies (19-25). Just 6 games out of first place in the Central Division.
And for all the gum flapping Cubs fans were doing a couple weeks ago, the Cardinals are only a game behind them in the standings and the Cubs fans have gotten curiously quiet.

He is a stud and only 22 or 23 yrs old............We can see why all the trade partners of the cardinals wanted him included in any trade and how smart the cardinals FO was in keeping him........So glad to see him starting to torch lefties like he already does righties..............

I still do not understand Oli's use of Helsley and Gallegos in the 8th and 9th. Sometimes it's Helsley closing. Other times it's Gallegos closing. As far as I am aware, Helsley is supposed to be the closer.
May 6 they were 10 games out. Today, exactly 2 weeks later - 5 games out.

I'm ready for my crow supper....................I never have been so wrong about a baseball player as I evidently was about PDJ.....Whatever he did as far as shortening his swing and altering his stride is working so far.........His defense plays well and it also allows us with more options as far as who to play elsewhere...............I hope he continues his good season and doesn't revert back to swinging at sliders 2 foot off the plate and in the dirt........

Especially for a guy like Mercado, who the Cardinals once traded away in a deal that at first looked lopsided in the Guardians favor.
