My wife use to watch that series. I caught a bit of it when I wandered into the room every once in a while. It was interesting. At least the early seasons were. I lost track of the story line so I don't know about the last few seasons.

Thanks to a couple of HR, St Lou 6 Washington 5 5th inning
I found the series " Suits " and really like watching Megan Markle on it.....she's a babe deluxe.......fast moving show with a lot of tongue in cheek humor ....I'm on season 2 of 8 seasons.....

Agreed. That and the revised scheduling format mean the Cardinals get the Cubs for only ONE series in St. Louis.
Yep. Terrible for Cards/Cubs fans. I'm not even a fan of the neutral site games in the states. Baseball might be growing in the UK, but it is still minor and if MLB insists on these out of country games, go to places where it is extremely popular. Japan, Korea, Dominican, Cuba, Venezuela, etc places where there would be demand from the locals to go and actually give them a chance to go with decent ticket prices. Give back to countries that have given to you if this is to continue.
Sorry, I'm just not a fan of these out of country games. Same with the NFL overseas.

Great Britain had a good showing in this year's WBC and it's starting to become a growing market for MLB. I doubt there will ever be an MLB franchise over there but it's not the worst idea to grow the game internationally.

I'm all for growing internationally, but I'm not sure Europe and specifically England is the route. There are 3 current players in the MLB from Europe and they are from Germany. My guess, kids from a military family.
I would say Europe needs more grassroots instructions in their leagues that are sponsored by MLB before we play these games there. Let's garner actual interest from the locals before we sell vacation packages to Americans for 2 ball games in London.

MLB and NFL have "football" envy. I am referring to what we call soccer. The World Series last year had an average viewership of 11.7 million. The peak was back in the 70s and 80s with the largest average at 44 million in 78. 79-82 were all the next largest average viewing series. The 3 lowest are 2020, 21 and 22.
After the most recent NFL season the Super Bowl on February 12, 2023 had 115 million people tune in. In contrast about 1.5 BILLION people watched the World Cup Final. The US market has been saturated so the major league franchises want to get more people around the world to spend their money on America's past times.
I agree the game of baseball should focus in countries that contribute players to the major leagues in large numbers. They already play a few games in Japan but it is to start the season not in June. It is hard to consider Great Britain a real WBC team and thus worthy of MLB staging a few games in London. There were 6 players from the UK. 6 players from the Bahamas. 1 from Canada and 1 from the US Virgin Is. The rest, 21 players were from the US.

When it was announced that the Cards and Cubs would play two in London I hated the idea. Travel can disrupt the continuity a team has. The Crds have been so utterly putrid I don't think the trip will affect their season at all.

Still MLB has to face the biggest challenge to European and UK interest. Relegation. If baseball as a whole doesn't force teams that throw away an entire season (or more) to drop down into a lower league classification, the game as a whole will never be taken seriously.

I really think the season can be summed up just like this game , SO FAR........

cubbies have 8 hits in 2 1/2 innings by putting the barrel of the bat on the ball solidly..............

Cardinals first 2 batters of the game took called 3 strikeouts...................not a lot of solid contact especially showing how Walker shredded his bat in the bottom of the 2nd.........

Born and raised a rabid Gibson era fan, my first cousin was the notorious home plate stealing third string catcher in 82, but the free agency, who’s on first this year era, and moving around the US has dampened my enthusiasm.
I want to put in a plug for my now home town TB Rays. Since they are in the other league, give them a watch, they play the game with joy and enthusiasm. I would love to see a Cardinals/ Rays WS, but my boyhood heroes have an uphill climb. Go Redbirds.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Rays now routinely beat up the hated Yankees, my boyhood baseball arch enemies.

4-0 cubbies going into bottom of 1st....................Cardinals with 3 errors in top of 1st.......wow...........

Lackluster play by the Cardinals and the cubbies continue to barrel up on pitches.......This looks like the Cardinal players have given up................................Maybe I will give up also...................Nah , I ain't built that way............glutton for punishment..............
