David Freese has turned down his induction into the Cardinals Hall of Fame later this season citing that he knows the value of the red jacket and wants to respect others who have the honor. So it will now just be Jose Oquendo and Max Lanier being inducted with Scott Rolen being honored for his Baseball Hall of Fame induction.

I really admire David Freese for his decision. It took great courage to make the decision that he did.
Feeling his place on the ballot was a case of recency bias, I did not vote for him. Even so I accepted the fan's decision and would have said he was a member of the Cardinal's Hall of Fame.
It has been my opinion for years that the criteria for a franchise's Hall of Fame is different from a league's hall whatever the sport may be. To me, a beloved player who has been a favorite for years belongs in their hall of fame if they are voted in by the fans.
Years from now, I would have voted for David but only after many others who I feel are more deserving were enshrined. It is my opinion that the Cardinal front office didn't do him any favors by rushing him onto the ballot as quickly as they did.
I'm not sure of their process nor reasoning but had they waited another 10-15 years it might have been different. He has only been out of baseball for 4 years. Add to that he only played for StL for 5 seasons. It simply does not seem to be enough. I personally think every one of the other candidates offered more.

Don't count out the Reds. Their position players are young and good and their GM has indicated they'll be active in the trade market for starting pitching help.

We've discovered "White Colllar" (2009-2014) on Amazon Prime. Very enjoyable show.

My wife use to watch that series. I caught a bit of it when I wandered into the room every once in a while. It was interesting. At least the early seasons were. I lost track of the story line so I don't know about the last few seasons.
