oh, and trade Luken, he's not gonna play first more than once every 10 days or so and
way down the DH list. Gorman, Walker, Donovan... Maybe showcase him this month after
we RELEASE O'NEIL. Apparently we could'nt trade him or he'd be gone.

there s a video on the post dispatch web site asking Whitey (at 92 i think)
what the cards should do from just before the trade deadline. fascinating,
pulls no punches.

1. trade flaherty, he already said he wants to go west. trade oneil.
2. sign Montgomery to an extension or trade him with the understanding of
trying to resign.
3. move Contreras to the 7 hole in the line up to take the pressure off and
leave the kid alone. he was a world series catcher, not Yadi, but who is.
4. extend Hicks. you cant just find kids with that velocity and movement.
5. gotta fix Goldy. he strikes out way too much with runners on base.

i might have forgotten some stuff.

I think we are seeing the beginning of the decline of Goldschmidt this year as he has shown slower bat speed through the strike zone and a vast increase in swinging at pitches out of the strike zone.......
I would explore the market for him this off season, knowing he has a no trade clause and can veto any deal.........
Baker is unproven at the MLB level but has shown in his brief time up of getting base hits........

Goldie could fill that # 1 or # 2 spot in the rotation in a deal moving forward.....his defense would be missed for sure but it seems to me we have been seeing Father Time starting to influence the performance this year.......his power is down as is his BA........Trade him and get some solutions for the pitching staff and / or free up some $$$ for a free agent or two...

THATS A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Behind the most excellent pitching of Matt Liberatore the Cardinals beat the Rays 5-2 and win the series..............

Liberatore was in complete control of this game going 8 innings of 2-hit shutout ball.............
Knizner & Edman with home runs........

That had to be this best MLB performance for Liberatore............truly impressive................

Matthew pitched excellently tonight. I was impressed. The offense was serviceable but was surprised (again) to see Kizner leading the offensive spark. Loved seein Nolan hustling around from 1st to score - I was shocked they sent him but he had an excellent slide. The close could have been cleaner (had two outs and strikes multiple times) but alas the Redbirds win. Having said that, I do like Romero. I just wish he didn’t leave balls up - paint the corners young man!

Add to the young arms mentioned above, Hence and Mcgreevey in the high minors,
Plus two of the recent trade pitchers that immediately appear in the top 8 prospects in the
minor league system. One at triple A (Robberse) and the other at AA (Roby). you'll also
see spots #9, 14 and 17 from the same trades in the link below.

the trades seem to have strengthened a relatively weak minor league.

Like everyone here, I had hoped he would limp through the season and get the wins he needed to get 200. A couple simply because the offense out scored his performance. After watching him the past month or so, I don't see how it is possible to back in to those wins.

I agree but lean toward Nola and Snell, and I mean "and". thruel;y need both. But i'd bet (dont have a
beach house)they'd look at the second teir guys like in the past, Matz, Mikolas and past moz signees
and household names, Mike Leake, Jake Westbrook, KH Kim, Bret Cecil, Greg Holland, Luke Gregerson
and lets not forget Andrew Miller. not a great track record.

im too sad to talk Waino.

Agree they need to add at least 2. Whether its by trade or free agency.

Carlson placed on 10 day IL. Luken Baker has been recalled from Memphis. I hope they get him some at bats this time around.
