I'm not sure where the dislike for Edmonds is coming from. A lot of the times with his commentary he's in full on IDGAF mode and I love it. With Thompson cutting back on the radio show he was part of at 101 ESPN in St. Louis, I'd assume he calls more games and/or does more studio work going forward.
Not even sure why Hrabosky and McCarver were brought up in this conversation. Hrabosky has been a full time pre/postgame analyst for years now. McCarver hasn't called any games since the pandemic began and in fact retired from broadcasting completely prior to last season. Even when he was on the broadcasts, it was mainly either games in Florida (where he was living) or against one of the large market teams like New York, San Fran, or L.A., and maybe the Cubs.

It is what it is...some people like Edmonds and some don't doing commentary and in studio. I love Edmonds the player and met him a few times and was super nice.
Thompson has cut back and done more Cardinals stuff for awhile. It will likely keep being Thompson/Edmonds rotating with Skip.
One of my favorites on 101 ESPN back in the day was Chris Duncan and Brad Thompson together. RIP Duncan
Same thing goes on with ex-NHLer(also Blues) Jamie Rivers for the Blues and on 101 ESPN in St Louis. Darren Pang does a ton of Blues games(I LOVE HIM) but he also does the big market game at times with his contract now and when that happens Jamie Rivers gets bumped over more to the Enterprise Center for the games.
Thompson isn't doing his drive time radio show at all anymore as he wanted to be able to spend more time with family. Doing the radio show in addition to the Cardinals responsibilities meant he didn't have much time to spend with family.
And yeah I know all about Jamie Rivers getting moved to calling games like he did tonight. For me though, best Blues listening is hearing Kerbs and Joey on the radio. Kerber is an unabashed homer at times and isn't afraid to admit it.

I have season tickets for the Blues so listen to the post game when I get to the vehicle and enjoy Kerbs and Joey. I see them pre-game and they tend to talk for a few minutes to the crowd where music is played. I love listening to Kelly and Pang(er) but all of them are enjoyable and entertaining. One of my buddies wife bought him a cameo recording from Kelly and Pang for his 40th bday in the last year and it was entertaining.

I have not listened to Chip Cary much since he was with the Cubs. He is not a Harry Cary clone. He has a tough act to follow, because Danny Mac was so popular. I think there needs to be an upgrade in the sidekick department on the TV side. I do not like Brad Thompson at all. This is probably generational. Too much fanboy for my tastes. Jim Edmunds is only slightly better. I think the radio guys do a bang up job. Remember they followed Buck and Shannon - 2 St. Louis icons.
One person ruins it for everyone
Had a friend who wrote him a letter and sent a SASE asking to sign his card. Gets the letter and card unsigned. All he did was mail it again with $10 and boom it comes back signed. It is up to them on that but know he charges a fee to sign cards through the mail. People are paying him more than what the card is probably worth with the autograph on it.
I'm no huge Rolen fan (Cubs fan), but one can't help but be touched by the video of him informing his parents he made the HOF. Nice!

I truly do love Scott Rolen! Thrilled he'll be in Cooperstown
It was a pleasure watching Scott Rolen play for the Cardinals. Always enjoyed him before and after the Cardinal days as well. Hard nosed team player that showed up to play rain or shine.
I will enjoy it if he goes in without a team affiliation, Phillies or Cardinals.
The one thing hurting him for the Cardinals is less time. Probably had around 800 less at bats with the Cardinals but pretty sure he had a higher defensive WAR during his time with the Cardinals. Rolen played around 1/3 of a season in 2005 and had that season ending shoulder surgery or would have added more offensive stats in his prime seasons with the Cardinals.
Now the possible good and JMO....I think the Hall of Fame's senior staff let Scott Rolen decide. When it comes down to a close call they will not influence him at all but they tend to lean towards somewhere where he had a bigger impact. Considering he had no playoff runs with the Phillies I don't see it being that close. Made it to 2 World Series with the Cardinals and won the 2006 World Series while hitting .421 in it.
It will all be up to Rolen and congrats on a great career

Oh I get it. Then again you have to use the Phillie Phans are %&*%*$^& (jerks) filter. Mike Schmidt even felt their wrath. Personally I think StL has the inside track if his cap has a logo. My guess is it won't. parts of 6 seasons out of a 17 year career leads me to think it will be blank. At least that is what would have happened 50 years ago. Times change.
