Excellent outing for Flaherty AND for Contreras......they were in unison the whole 7 innings and Flaherty had all his pitches working.

8-0 going into top of 8th.......

Both Nolan’s are crushing the ball. Noot and Goldie getting on ahead of them makes for a lot of runs. Edman hitting in the 9th slot also helps.

Little slow here, but curious on everyone's take. Interesting approach by Contreras to get that walk in the 9th on Saturday. Follow up question, can anyone explain to me how Jansen doesn't balk every time he pitches with someone on base? I googled it and people say it's ok because he does it every time. Just because you balk every time, doesn't make it not a balk. That's ridiculous, he never completely sets and basically fake pitches.
Contreras did nothing illegal. The pitcher went into the stretch before the batter was set which is illegal.

I had to watch all 3 Cardinals-Red Sox games on NESN and the announcers and post game crew are as dumb as a box of rocks.....they were whining about the pitch violation calls and never understood that it's a violation for the pitcher to come to a set stretch position with the batter still out of the batters box....I mean anyone could see why the calls were made but those announcers even wanted the Red Sox to protest the games .......lol.............

Contreras was playing with Jansen's mind by staying out of the box untill 10-12 seconds was left on the pitch clock .....fully legal

Thank you, but I understand that. I just don't understand how Jansen can have the motion he does every time someone is on base, it should be a balk every time he pitches. He basically fake pitches, stops, then fidgets around and never actually sets. People say its part of his motion, well, his motion is a balk, I don't care if you do it every time. That's like saying, I'm not speeding because I always set my cruise at 90.

Same way the guys who tap their foot 3 or 4 times before coming set aren't called for a balk. Kenley doesn't come set before he does his little hitch with his shoulders so it's fine. He does actually come to set after that though.

Liberatore with 5 SOLID innings and left ahead 1-0...............

Cardinals missed a gigantic chance with leaving the bases loaded and no out's with no runs scored........

Solid outing by Liberatore! I have wanted him called up for weeks.

See how long the 6 man rotation works out.....

Only shame about this series is that with the reduced divisional schedules this season, these two teams won't meet again until mid-September when the Cardinals host the Brewers for a 4 game series with the Cardinals only other road series in Milwaukee happening on the final road trip of the season.

The Cardinals host the Dodgers for a 4 game series starting tomorrow night. After this weekend, they won't play the Dodgers again the rest of the season.

I'm getting to basically dislike the new scheduling format. Way too many interleague games, not enough divisional games.

While I get the argument you're making, the new format will allow us to see who the best team actually is during the regular season. Rather than a team feasting off games where they're in a bad division and playing games against teams like the A's or Royals.
