Remember, you have to trade something to get something. Oniel, Dejong, Gallegos, won't get anything. Flaherty
and Montgomery are rent-a-players due to free agency, so not worth a lot. Teams will ask for young controllable
big league talent or minor league developmental talent, i.e. Donovan, Edman, Walker, Winn, Carlson, Nootbaar.
Walker and Winn are not going anywhere. Maybe some AAA outfielders since we just drafted a bunch and have
5 on the roster, mostly playing out of position. This is why Goldy and Arenado are even being discussed. We are
now the Colorado Rockies, dumping our big money players!

Moz will not make fundamental changes to this roster. Since he drafted a college third baseman to
play shortstop, he has consistently made moves to protect himself and dodge any criticism. Thats why
he moved upstairs. Now Girsch can take the bullet for him. How many presidents take all the airtime
in lieu of a GM? Minor trades will be made and if anybody takes the fall it will be Girsch.

It’s gotten pretty common in baseball for the guy who makes the personnel decisions to be called President or Vice-President instead of GM (for example Friedman with the Dodgers, Hoyer with the Cubs) or to be GM and have an additional title as Pres or VP (for example Cashman with the Yankees, Arnold with the Brewers).

It’s a way to make poaching more expensive since Baseball gives more compensation for “lateral” management moves than for “promotions.” Works the same way where you might have to give up a prospect if you hire away someone’s manager to be your manager, but not if you hire away someone’s bench coach to be your manager.

1-on-1 with Cardinals President John Mozeliak: "We're Going to Trade People"

I have several thoughts about this interview. I will only focus on one aspect. Mozeliak mentions that Dakota Hudson was penciled in as one of the starters. I assume this was in the off season. It was not too long ago that Flaherty and Reyes were supposed going to be two of the starters the following season. Neither pitched at all the following season.

i wish poaching could happen in the Cardinal front office. In this case, its not gonna happen when your bad at your job. Lohse on the other hand might move on
while he still can..

THATS A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Burleson with 3 hits and a home run, and a very good catch at the wall....
Arenado with a solo blast....
Walker with a great diving catch in right field.............
17 (I think ) hits for the cardinals ......a season high.......
Matz was tough first time throught the lineup .......maybe relief is his spot for 2024 season....
Hudson looked good , best stat for him was NO walks

I'd be willing to part with anyone except these five, maybe Donovan as well.

THATS A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

win # 40 for the Cardinals (ugh )

Flaherty with another quality start and the win
Gorman with 3 hits and another bomb
Goldie with a 430 + HR to straight away center field

Marlins coming in to Busch III for a 3 game series......Then we go to Wrigley........

It's nice to have the games back on and win the first series after the All Star break....................

I caught some comments about the Cardinals on the Major League Baseball network last Friday. The Cardinal starting pitching ranks 25th with a 4.78 ERA . The bullpen is ranked 24th with a 4.54 ERA. The rankings are correct, but the ERA's could be slightly off. They made the further point that the defense has not been up to past Cardinal standards.

What was it about Tepera’s 7.25 ERA that makes you want to jump all over that? I guess it is because he could raise it in his first outing with the Cardinals.

IMHO , he was brought in to replace Chris Stratton , who is a pending free agent.......Stratton's name has been mentioned in some of the trade rumor articles I have seen the last few days................
