Just checked and Mason isn't related to Jadi...I don't know anything about Mason Molina or Skyler Hales but these are the players StL got in return for Phil Maton.

The ultimate goal is to be serious World Series contenders. When ownership decided not to spend money in the off season to improve a team that made great strides in 2024, the handwriting was on the wall. Reset was rebuild. It could be years before this team is again relevant for a World Series championship discussion. This is a mediocre roster which has played pretty well so far. And the bad thing for the owners is that there are a lot of fans out there, who think that the retirement of Mozeliak and potential firing of Marmol will right the ship and the Cardinals will be contenders like LA, the Yankees, Philly and the others. Ownership created this situation, maybe they have the right plan to fix it.I'll give it to the front office. At least they have finally picked a lane. They realized they couldn't get the big names in the game anymore because they didn't draft well and didn't have stockpiles of talented pitchers, hitters, and fielders to use or trade as needed. Here's to the rebuild! I think it will be a couple years, but it's going to be really fun to see the young guys (Herrera, Winn, Wetherholt, and more) continue to develop. It was admirable the way this team played this year and I am going to choose to remember the team that reached nearly 10 games over .500 than the broken down thin team we saw the last couple weeks, and naturally even thinner now.
Yeah, I am also not that bullish that this turns around just because Mo is gone. I mean, Mo did fine with the budget constraints he had. Wheels came off at the end but that's kind of the inevitable end result of constantly mortgaging your future so you can make the playoffs every year without blowing up the budget - which was exactly the edict he got from ownership. If ownership is going to treat things differently under Bloom, then maybe things will be different. If not, then I think it's either going to be more of the same. Perhaps Bloom was hired because ownership wants to shift to more of the standard mid-market model where teams have long (sometimes painful) periods where they stockpile talent, then compete for a while when enough of that talent matures at the same time, then sell off that talent before it becomes too expensive, rinse and repeat. The ultimate goal is to be serious World Series contenders. I think a big part of this is that there were no offensive players whose contracts are expiring, and except for Arenado (who they would have loved to trade) none of them are on bad contracts. One of the things I found interesting was the front office was willing to trade away pitching but not the core offensive players. Particularly the lefty handed hitters.
I know they have flexibility on the young players contracts but if they were offered Konnor Griffin for Lars Nootbaar even up, they would have taken the deal. Point is, the Cards were not given enough in exchange for them. I'm sure they set a very high bar for trade talks.I think a big part of this is that there were no offensive players whose contracts are expiring, and except for Arenado (who they would have loved to trade) none of them are on bad contracts.

It’s a rough watch right now. Bummed.Gorman needs to run with this opportunity for extended play with Arenado on the IL and fumbles an easy grounder for an error after he was caught looking for a K earlier.........his progression as an MLB player is lacking any suitable improvement to consider him to be an everyday player........sad to say..............JMHO.....
Burlie fortunate the catcher dropped the ball. He was out by several feet if they catch it.Winn with a two out 2 run double to get the lead for the Cardinals at 6-4 going into bottom of the 5th,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I like it a lot..
