St Louis Cardinals 2026

I'll never understand the 'get away day' lineup. Why rest everyone at the same time.
If you are a team like the Dodgers or Yankees and etal and your playoff position is pretty well assured, you can rest players like this early in the season. However a team like the Cardinals, who have overperformed to this point in the season, cannot afford to give away games like this. I understand resting players, but to put that line-up out there like they did on Wednesday makes little or no sense. You are trying to put butts in the seats at home. This is really offputting to a lot of fans, who watch and listen to these away games in their living rooms. I know a playoff spot may be an extreme longshot. Act like you are trying is my point, I guess, while there is hope.

Most players needs rest. That is a given. Why the Cardinals, I suppose other teams do it as well, rest nearly the whole team is mind boggling. There are 8 position players. Rotate their day off. That way there is only a player or two out of the lineup on any given day. Of course if the manager is telling the fans they don't mind losing the get away game just say so.

Winn with a 2 out bloop single drives in Walker and Gorman to tie the game 2-2 against the Mariners going to top 5th..

Urias with a fielding gem at 3rd base on an overturned call for the inning ending out..............

Pallante with a very good outing with 8 K's.........maybe should have been pulled after 5 as Naylor's HR with a no doubter......

If Pallante keeps pitching like tonight then that's good enough for me........

The Cards strategy is to give players two days of rest, get away game followed by off day.Only so many opportunities to apply during season. Not crazy about this approach, almost always a loss and hard to watch.

After giving up his 4th home run, they showed the pitcher mumble “WTF”! He hasn’t given up a home run since last September.

I understand. I almost commented on it in my post but it's dumb to give away a game.

So a .121 hitter with 34 home runs in 10 years gets his first homer of the year to beat the Redbirds. Sounds about right. Cards 0-5 RISP.
