Walker did extend his hitting streak to 15 games tonight , but yeah he had one AB tonight that looked like the bad ole days of swinging at sliders a foot outside..............

4-1 Cardinals going to bottom of 4th..........Church with a 2 run smashed tater in the 4th and Burly with an rbi single in the 1st and an rbi fielders choice in the 3rd............D. May looking good so far tonight...........

Gorman with a nice opposite field single for an rbi......5-1 Cardinals going to bottom of 5th..........VS II is really struggling at the plate taking strikes to continually be behind on the count .....struck out on 3 pitches last AB.......Church is an above average fielder so might happen him replacing VS II..........

terrible base running by the Marlins allowing Cardinals to escape possible rally......really really bad .............

for a young team, they are good and smart defensively. Another thing and it was the same last year, they play for Oli.

VS II loses a lot of power when swings as his body is at a 45 degree angle moving downward on impact with the ball.......he loses any follow through as he is off balance upon contact....I would move him closer to the plate and stress swinging the bat standing as upright as possible.......off speed pitches are his worst nightmare ................

Stanek has good stuff but control issues are major concern.............

O'Brien is awesome so far this season........

Crooks should come up immediately. Fire Pozo into the sun if they really have to keep doing the "carry 3 catchers" thing on the MLB roster. Crooks gets 75% of the starts, Herrera 25% of the starts (with the other 75% at DH), and Pages is your backup. Crooks really doesn't have anything left to prove at AAA.

If Baez gets like 300 PAs at AAA and is mashing, they should probably bring him up to be in the OF mix for the second half of the year. They may play the waiting game with him (not the worst idea in the world), he's only 22, no reason to really burn a control year.

If you are a team like the Dodgers or Yankees and etal and your playoff position is pretty well assured, you can rest players like this early in the season. However a team like the Cardinals, who have overperformed to this point in the season, cannot afford to give away games like this. I understand resting players, but to put that line-up out there like they did on Wednesday makes little or no sense. You are trying to put butts in the seats at home. This is really offputting to a lot of fans, who watch and listen to these away games in their living rooms. I know a playoff spot may be an extreme longshot. Act like you are trying is my point, I guess, while there is hope.

Most players needs rest. That is a given. Why the Cardinals, I suppose other teams do it as well, rest nearly the whole team is mind boggling. There are 8 position players. Rotate their day off. That way there is only a player or two out of the lineup on any given day. Of course if the manager is telling the fans they don't mind losing the get away game just say so.
