{ 23-15 }

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........

Cardinals pitcher's McGreevy , Graceffo and Stanek combine for a 1 hit shutout beating the Padres 6-0 and have won the first two games of this 4 game road series.............

McGreevy with career high 9 K's.............
Herrera with career high 4 hits...............
J J with a bases loaded single that turned into all 4 runs scoring............

LET'S GO CARDINALS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............
Yeah, that was pretty cool. And make no mistake, the Padres have proven major league talent in that lineup.

This is another piece of historical information I ran ascross. Nate Colbert was supposedly in old Sportsmen Park the day that Stan Musial hit his 5 home runs.
This is how I remember it: Gussie Busch was the new owner of the Cards as of '53. It was also the first season of the Baltimore Orioles ( prior to that the St. Louis Browns.) Bill Veeck made that decision when Busch with mucho $$$ bought the Cards. So I think Sportsman's Park became Busch Stadium at the start of that year. It was a very difficult park to hit home runs; In deep left center and right center, I think there were fences at about 420 feet. The right field line was just 310 feet, but a screen out there rose to some 40 or 50 feet. Veeck, by the way, wrote a funny book named "Veeck as in Wreck."

J J was later given credit for a second RBI on that little league grand slam...........it was the correct call by the official scorer.......

it really really was...........

In three at-bats so far this season with the bases loaded, Wetherholt has two hits and he’s created eight runs even if he’s only credited with five

Gussie wanted to name it Budweiser stadium but MLB said no. There was no Busch beer at the time, so Busch stadium was okay. The next year he introduced Busch beer....

Good point. Now that you mention it, it all comes back to me.

Wasn't Busch beer originally named Busch Bavarian beer?

I predict a big game this afternoon for Gorman. BTW, his defense at 3rd is better than I thought it would be.

No big game so far... but I am please to see he hit 2 balls 107.6 and 110.8. Just wish he was doing that more.

I am losing my faith in him, which blows because I really was rooting for him to finally succeed.

That was a bomb!

I’ve never seen a runner on second blatantly showing the batter where the pitch was going to be.

Exactly how I feel. I can only hope we are both wrong.

This is the kind of disgusting loss that can bust a team's morale. Caray kept talking about the "flamethrower's". 100 mph on the gun, but O'Brien's bottom line is he blew the lead and let the team down. Bounce back has to come in Sacramento and that hinky ballpark.

Tough loss, no doubt. This 16 game stretch, however, has been a resounding success. 9-7 with only 1 series loss and 5 of the loss by 2 runs or less. The pitching has been really good to dominant. I have raised my expected level of wins for this team, but it will be interesting if this team has another level comes the all star should their noses still be in the race.

I'm looking like a genius for never moving my Jordan Walker bobble head off of its prominent perch on my wall of baseball. 😉

That homer he hit was a monster; too bad it didn't win the game, as it should have.

Looked at the score, saw we had 3, by time the video for mlb.tv loaded we had 4, and I thought that's cool. This should make it easier for our pitcher, then Church got out and they did a montage of tonight's pitcher, at which point I immediately thought we didnt get enough.

This home plate umpire is missing numerous balls and strike calls for both teams in just the first inning. Two calls were challenged and reversed.
