Yea, it's not great, but is what we have. We do have something to look forward to 1-4, maybe 5, but the rest, I'm scared.

is that lineup official ??....................I would switch Winn and Herrera to have more speed at the top of the lineup......
According to people who do the math, our best hitter should be in the 2 hole. So, at least Oli has that right. But Winn is not a 4 hitter.

You are chasing Fools Gold with Walker and Gorman. Neither is a big league hitter.
But they are perfect, and cheap, as guys to trot out there every day if you're tanking, until you get to the point you need to shove them aside to make room for a prospect who is ready to take their place. And there's always the off chance that one of them gets hot for half a season and you can flip them for a prospect or two.

As much as I don't love this rebuild and am not optimistic about the long term future of the club, I'd rather have this on a non-competitive team than have us signing and trotting out guys like 37-year old Tommy Pham, 38-year old Andrew McCutcheon, and 30 year-old Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who are all guys that played around 120 games or more for the Pirates last season.

Quote of the day by Brad Thompson. "Matthew Liberatore coming off a fantastic season last year." I have a sarcastic comment but it is probably inappropriate.

Let's hope that is part of his introduction to the Hall of Fame.

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entertaining game with a lot of offense by both squads in a 14 run 6th inning with the Cardinals scoring 8 runs........

Wetherholt wit a HR , sac fly , 2 rbi's..........
Burleson with 3 H , including a 432' HR......

3 walks in the 9th inning by Stanek brought back Helsley drama memories but he K'ed Palacios for the save and a Cardinals win....

I think Gorman is a better hitter than some on here say. He's still young and has enormous power. Of course he strikes out too much but modern hitters do that a lot and don't give a sh**. And btw, Gorman is a plus defender at 2nd base. Let's don't get ahead of ourselves; let's see what 2026 brings.

My real reason for writing is to let people who live in central Ill know, if you've got cable on Comcast/Xfinity you can find Cards games on ch. 1261. I tried it and it works!

He has flashed power but his OPS+/wRC+ has been well below league average for two straight seasons now.

And even as far as power, his exit velocities and bat speed have not been good the last two seasons.

I really liked Gorman when he first came up, and obviously 2023 was a very good year. But at this point I worry we are approaching Dylan Carlson territory where that maybe was a bit of a fluke, or where MLB pitching has just completely figured him out.

And he's definitely not a plus defender very much the opposite.

Hmm....I've got Xfinity in Champaign and subscription required when I tried it. I'll check with Xfinity.

You may have a point. I checked it here at home but not during game time. I got the station just fine, but all it had was a Cards logo

{ 1-0 }

Church with 3 hits and a great catch to rob a home run.........VS II with 3 hits also and 2 or 3 steals..........let Nootbaar heal completely as we might not need him right now....odd day off today but seems it was that way last year too................

That was a great catch! They do that day off in case the opener gets rained out.

I don't really pay much attention to this metric claptrap. I know what I see. I played baseball all the way through college, I coached it in youth sports leagues. I trust my eye test. And the next time you watch Gorman at second, trust what your eyes tell you.
