Because Ivan DHs far more than Burly does. Plus in the NL, it's gonna be tougher for Burleson to get on the roster when you have Freeman, Harper, and Olson ahead of you.

This season is fools gold. Sell Noot, Jo Jo, Riley and Matthew L at the deadline. Should have traded Jo Jo last year. His value has dropped.

Let's just start off all agreeing that a walk gets you the same result as a single. Right? Right? So if getting a single is good because it raises your batting average, then getting a walk should also be good, even though it doesn't raise your batting average. Agree?
This is why nobody in baseball front offices cares about batting average any more. Read or watch Moneyball, and you'll be caught up to the major innovation of 2002 - on base percentage. A lot of better tools available these days, but baby steps.
Noot has a .355 OBP. He's at 121 OPS+, 117 wRC+ for the season. He is clearly an above average player who has trouble staying healthy. And everyone in the league knows his health history so odds are you aren't going to get a ton of value for him in a trade. If you can get good value, obviously go for it. But scrapping him for parts because of his batting average is not it.

I’m not the biggest Noot guy simply because he doesn’t play much, but you trade him because you can get a decent return. The team that just left town needs a guy like him . Philly, Houston as well. STL has had a working past with Cleveland.

The biggest minus is catching. I thought Crooks might be an upgrade, but his hitting is terrible. His defense isn’t much better. Pages hitting is also terrible! He is supposed to be a great defensive catcher. He is throwing out runners at a solid clip, but his errors and passed balls are bad. Herrera is hitting ok and gets on base by being hit by pitches, but his power and rbi numbers seem down. He hasn’t thrown out a runner since I don’t know when.
I need more context. Is there a runner on 2nd or 3rd? If there is, a walk is NOT as good as a single. Modern metrics have flaws just like the old stats do.
On the flip side, if Noot is a league average player and you trade him what are you getting in return? Not an MLB ready Hall of Fame player. Not even a multi year All Star. What you get is a middling draft pick or a minor league you hope you can turn into an every day starter in a few years.

Walker only had eight home runs when he was down to his final swing, and then ripped off four in a row to walk (sorry, had to do it) it off over Schwarber. The Philly fans seemed stunned. But for the rest of us, that was 80-grade entertainment.

It wasn’t many months ago that there was a question whether the Cards were going to pull the plug on Walker. About as impressive as his offensive breakout has been is how he went from a defensive liability to a plus defender with a plus-plus arm.
Not gonna lie, I had a feeling Schwarber was gonna end up winning it. Just the momentum he had going into the final round was too much for Jordan to overcome.

I thought the same. And I was going to be fine with it, because I was happy how Walker had performed. And damn did Schwarber put on a show in that final round. It just seemed like, oh well, good job kid we are still proud of you. It just turns out that kid was able to put on an even better show!
