St Louis Cardinals 2026

Cardinals DH Ivan Herrera added to All-Star Game as Shohei Ohtani bows out
I am happy and love what Ivan does for us, but is anyone else looking at our own roster and wondering how he got it over Burleson? Alec is better in basically every category this year.

Sneaky big draft for us this week imo.

When you look up and down the minors, it’s light years better, and that doesn’t include so many high-level(ish) pitching prospects coming back.

If they can nail a few more college power arms and a high upside position player (I like condon) along with probably being sellers at the deadline. You like the look a lot

Boom!

{ 50-44 }

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...........

Cardinals take the first 2 games of this 3 game series winning 4-1 on Saturday .........been a rough couple games here in pru's world and Cardinal victories is the best medicine along with Illini successes ....................

Nootbaar's big 3 run smashed tater in the 1st inning set the tone and control of the game.......Liberatore with a QS and the win and O'Brien with his 23rd save.................

LET'S GO CARDINALS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Because Ivan DHs far more than Burly does. Plus in the NL, it's gonna be tougher for Burleson to get on the roster when you have Freeman, Harper, and Olson ahead of you.

This season is fools gold. Sell Noot, Jo Jo, Riley and Matthew L at the deadline. Should have traded Jo Jo last year. His value has dropped.

They are all journeymen

Noots 6th year in the majors he is a lifetime .243 hitter with limited power. He is a league average player.

Matthew L 5th year - lifetime 4.71 era and 21-30 record.

Stop. Paying. So. Much. Attention. To. Batting. Average.It.Is.Not.A.Good.Statistic.

Let's just start off all agreeing that a walk gets you the same result as a single. Right? Right? So if getting a single is good because it raises your batting average, then getting a walk should also be good, even though it doesn't raise your batting average. Agree?

This is why nobody in baseball front offices cares about batting average any more. Read or watch Moneyball, and you'll be caught up to the major innovation of 2002 - on base percentage. A lot of better tools available these days, but baby steps.

Noot has a .355 OBP. He's at 121 OPS+, 117 wRC+ for the season. He is clearly an above average player who has trouble staying healthy. And everyone in the league knows his health history so odds are you aren't going to get a ton of value for him in a trade. If you can get good value, obviously go for it. But scrapping him for parts because of his batting average is not it.

I’m not the biggest Noot guy simply because he doesn’t play much, but you trade him because you can get a decent return. The team that just left town needs a guy like him . Philly, Houston as well. STL has had a working past with Cleveland.
