if you cant play herrera at first or third and he's not DH'ing, you have to trade burleson and make room for him.

i want to see what Leo Bernal in STL this summer/fall looks like. switch hitting catcher who has been successful at every level.
Memphis 2026 numbers .278/.851 ops works for me. not sure why Crooks went up first.

Blast from the past...noticed that Harrison Bader, now of the Giants, has had his pay suspended after crashing in a scooter. He was already on the 10 day IL. He's with his 7th MLB team...including 6 in the last 4 years. Forgot he spent 6 years with the Redbirds.

Quinn the Eskimo with 5 innings/2 ER. Pretty decent debut. Too bad he didn't throw a 9 inning shutout. We could have won.

The Dodgers get 2 months of Skubal plus the post season in exchange for a high rated prospect. Then Skubal hits FA and all bets are off. LA has a better chance of retaining him since they seem to have an unlimited budget but there will be plenty of offers for him to sort through.

Read a report yesterday even before the trade saying Skubal’s first preference this offseason was signing with LA. And I see he’s from California too.

I’d be kinda surprised if that isn’t a wink / wink sorta deal. But with the lockout looming who knows.

Given it’s technically a rental, I’d say Detroit did well

Detroit did well but so did LA. Hope is a great prospect, ranked #25 by MLB pipeline. But The Dodgers still have 3 OF prospects ranked even higher somehow. So to them, he was expendable.

I kinda think the lockout makes Dodgers' hopes of signing Skubal higher. It's almost certain that if a salary cap happens, all existing contracts will be guaranteed and teams starting out above the cap will be phased in over multiple years. So by a certain logic it makes sense to get all these deals in before the lockout. You lock in a competitive edge for a certain number of years and guarantee opponents can't just increase spending to catch up with you.

Meanwhile teams that are likely to start out below the cap have every incentive not to take on long term commitments before the exact parameters of the cap situation are known.

I’ve found all the discussion around the skubal trade enlightening honestly.

I’m not nearly in tune with the CBA in baseball compared to the NBA. Feel like I’ve heard a lot of great points and insights from both sides of the debate on it.
