Very happy Leahy is racking up the wins, along with Pallante.

thought the same thing. seemed the Mgr. was willing to give that game away. it could cost them this late in the season.

This season, Oli has been someone who is not willing to put the arms in his bullpen in jeopardy for unnecessary reasons. Playing more the long game than doing it on a game by game basis. He typically won't pitch a guy 3 days in a row or 4 days out 5. If you watched the doubleheader yesterday, he used a lot of his top bullpen guys in Game 1.

Never should have fired Schildt

He did nothing but win at St Louis and San Diego

We seriously going over this again? At the end of the 2021 season, Shildt WAS. GOING. TO. BE. FIRED! All the winning streak did was delay the inevitable. Anyone who watched the team late in that season could tell that was going to happen. The 17-game winning streak was a great story but Shildt's job security had already been decided well before that.

Elephant in the room: Joshua Baez is 0-18 with 7 k's since his 3 HR start. I'd like him to get a hit today so this doesn't become the story.
Your wish has been granted.

ESPN play by play tracker:
  • Báez hit for Torres
  • Báez singled to center.
    PitchTypeMPH
    1
    Single
    Sinker93

  • Báez stole second. Cincinnati Reds challenged: call on the field was upheld.

Also got his first major league walk (uh-oh, be careful young man this thread can turn on you real fast if you get too many of those), and swiped a second bag! With all the power he brings it's easy to forget he stole 54 bases in the minors last season, and had 21 SB in Memphis before getting called up.

It's a pretty big "if" and it's where a lot of guys fail in the transition from AAA to MLB, but if he can improve his pitch recognition and plate discipline he's got all the tools to be an impact player.

after 30 ish ab's Baez is far more polished that Walker was. we need to shut up and let him play.
we'll have a concept of his potential next year this time.

I am OK with finishing around .500

So far this year
1. Walker turned into MVP competitor
2. Wetherholt has good chance to win ROY
3. Burleson 3rd solid year, on track for 20HR 100 RBI
4. Herrera dropped from ~.300 hitter to .244 still cant throw anybody out. Solid hitter but??
5. . Winn, solid D, batting .239 year 4. OK for SS.

Questions marks
6. Is Baez ready for majors in 2027
7. Who is our 3rd baseman
8. Who is our centerfielder - Scott NO, Church BA .235 OPS .634 seems like younger Nootbar.

Starting pitching
9. Pallante 24 GS 12-6 3.57 ERA - has he figured it out year 3 as starter
10. McGreevy 24 GS 5-9 3.48 ERA year 3 starter
11. Leahy 24 GS 1-4 3.24 ERA year 1 starter

Liberatore 25 GS 5-11 5.0 ERA - time to move on

With Sandberg it was more than 30 games. Kid couldn't hit anything. He started as a third baseman. Manager told him not to worry about it, you are our third baseman. He was slender and not hitting his weight. I was actually surprised he left him alone, but I guess they saw something they liked.

THAT'S WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.................It ain't over till it's over.................that was a 9th inning to remember in another game of good 4-5-6 innings by our SP turning into a come from behind victory with major help from a dropped flyball error by the Reds.....it's a good thing we added on more runs as the BP walked this game back to the brink's of defeat.....

an exciting but frustrating 10-9 win and another series win...............

Wetherholt 1-4 , 3 R ........
Herrera 1-3 , 2 R , 2 BB
Burleson 1-4 , 1 R , 1 RBI ....
Walker 1-4 , 2 R , 1 BB , 4 RBI ......
Fermin 2-2 , 1 R , 2 RBI ....

McGreevy 5.1 IP , 3 H , 3 ER , 2 BB , 4 K's ........

O'Brien got his 33rd save.....BARELY.........8 WALKS .............

Onto to Philly for a 3 game series to close out this long road trip............
