The Syracuse helmets don't have the center stripe and the letter is blue. The orange shades are similar. The uniforms don't look that similar other than the colors.

I guess, if that's all your looking for. But I fancy myself a bit of a uniform connisuer, if I can say that.
It's definitely not all any of us on here are looking for, but for average Joe just flipping through the TV channels, you see two teams that look the same color wise. They aren't going to take the time to distinguish that the stripes on the pant legs are different or the fonts for the numbers look different. That's just my take.

I had the game on as well and I agree with you--they looked remarkably similar except for the color of the logo. I'm glad we have a white I after seeing what the navy looked like
I'm with you on that one as well - I disliked the white I but, .....
Being that we don't play Syracuse for at least the next 12-14 years at this point based on the schedules, I doubt your "average Joe" flipping through the channels is going to care enough about either team to remember what each uniforms look like and say "hey wait a minute! Syracuse's uniforms look just like Illinois'!"

FWIW, the all-orange unis looked better than any previous all-orange set. The blue/white striping and white letters keep the orange from overwhelming. They just need to put some white between the blue leg strips, but that is a minor gripe.

We can't, because apparently the blue uniforms are on some mysterious hold that no one can confirm nor deny.
But it's cool, we have a uniform chart to tweet out every week so we can track all the orange/white combos.

I remember when they wore all orange against Mizzou and ESPN said the players looked like Dreamsicles. It made me laugh at the time and I don't think they tried it again until last week. Looked much better this time around.

Agreed, its only a shame this type of utter common sense is no where to be found in our athletic dept. The little mistakes I can stomach, but the big ones, like wearing all orange or not lying to Reilly O'Toole about the start times of games, those are more difficult to get past.
I agree! Orange-blue-orange would look the best.
Overall. I like the design of the re-branded uniforms, but not the color changes at all.
On thing I think could happen is that the re-brand for football will be negatively associated with failure as it coincided with one of the worst coaching tenures of all time.
