Possible explanation for the missing blue uniforms: They have been changed since the unveiling.

This is a picture taken of the models at the football building today:

Notice the orange outline around the white numbers. Compare that with the blue jersey from the unveiling:

A last-minute change before the jerseys were produced, perhaps?
It annoys me that they changed the number outlines on the navy jersey, but didn't fix the sleeve stripes to match the helmet stripe on the navy helmet.

That, or orange/orange/white

I know that's probably the way we will go with beckman's love for orange, but IMO it's looks high schoolish and isn't a "classic" look. Just my opinion. And I agree about the shoulder stripes. Seems like they made them as nearly incompatible as possible.

I think it looks awesome, particularly with our new uniforms. My only qualm is that Clemson kinda has ownership of that combo, but screw it, everyone wears someone else's colors, there are only so many combos.

I agree we over use it a bit... I'm very glad that with the new look we have a Blue/Orange combo that actually looks good (orange pants were awful with the old set)

I would like to see us go back to the classic look a bit more.

That said, Orange on White (I would prefer white helmets too) looks awesome.

I also think there is a time factor...

early September games I think White/Orange/White looks great.

When it's late october and the long sleeves come out, I think Orange/Blue/Orange is the best look.

I weirdly feel the same - why is that?

I don't know how I'm supposed to evaluate the look of blue jersey uniform without seeing the Mad fold-in style graphics that are created when the player puts together the palms of his receivers gloves and holds them up to the camera.

The New Illini Nike Uniforms and Rebrand

I'm sure they'll both endzones will say Illinois. I wonder if the shade of orange used for the endzones is our new shade of orange? It will be real annoying if the orange used on the uniforms doesn't match the orange in the endzones.

I like the orange blue orange sleve stripes, it looks more classic to me, like the Bears throwback jerseys.

I actually think this is a fantastic idea. Great to have almost two totally different looks throughout the year.

i think the heat factors... Orange to me says summer... plus it doesn't absorb as much heat... all blue uniforms could get hot as hell for an 11 AM kick on Labor Day (some schools in the south will wear white's at home because of this)

Darker colors work better for lower temps.

Worth noting I guess: Our practice jerseys have switched from blue to orange this year. Seems that everything in heading in an orange direction under Beckman, which I have no objection to.

Was it painted on or permanently installed?

every color on the field is from a different roll of fabric. The exception was that "ILLINOIS" was painted the last couple years.

Illini Orange changes slightly with the rebrand, so it looks like they went with the more vibrant color and replaced the entire panel
