I said I liked a lot of thigs and didn't like some. Never mentioned where the shield at all.
I think you're a victim of group psychology because GHD was saying it. Do you see how little bearing or foundation that claim has?
Like I don't care what your opinion of the rebrand cuz like I said it doesn't really matter and neither does mine.
What icant believe people do is try to conjure up reasons how someone could possibly like something. They make these claims out of thin air.
And I'm sorry but that kind of insults intelligence to think each person can't come up with their own opinion.
Granted maybe some people are but how can you claim that's why everyone likes it?
And oh I'll pass on picking up a book because I've taken enough classes here at the university to contribute to this message board I think. Just please.

I finally caught up on this thread and I'm a bit surprised nobody commented about the "bow-tie". That's much more obvious than our zig zag homage to the Chief.
If Syracuse can get away with obvious tomahawks, we should be able to have a feather or two somewhere.
Since you guys seem to struggle a little bit in your reading comprehension, let me re-phrase as I would to my 5 year old.
It's not that any person can't like it. It's not that a lot of people can't like it. It's not that any person can't love it. It's the over the top worship of the shield/badge that suggests that for some there is a bit of groupthink going on.
You have people instantly posting "team shield". You have others applauding those that get on board with their opinion. It's very Notre Dame football-y to me.
We all stated going in to the rebrand that almost certainly there would be 50% of people that loved what was done and 50% of people who dislike what was done. That is human nature. That was a good prediction. That it seems 90% of people are not only in the approval, but the love camp, indicates that there is more to it than just liking the logo.

Not exactly. I don't think artistic details compare to a symbol. The former are easily changed. The latter probably is not.

Not sure if you had seen it, but I believe the technical description of their crest/shield/neck patch is that it's a "44" to represent Syracuse's history of the #44 with Ernie Davis, Jim Brown and Floyd Little. I'm also assuming you were joking a little with the post anyway

Totally disagree. No one would expect 50-50 unless the rebrand was intended to be controversial. In general, there were going to be a small percentage of people who hated it no matter what. A small percentage who loved it no matter what. A large percentage who were going to very happy if the rebrand was good even if it wasn't perfect.
I think that rebrand was good (not perfect) and that is the response you are getting. However, the most negative and most positive people will always speak loudest. Since the majority is satisfied with the rebrand the negative people are going to get shot down the most.

I'm pretty sure the Team Shield thing is tongue in cheek.
I was likely to not like this. I hate change in general and I am rarely positively moved by what others think. I was liking our colors and the block I. I was pleasantly surprised that the uniforms were not garish, or nauseating to look at. Taste is in each person's head. I have actually liked two of the shields our posters have modified more than the Nike version. That said, it's pretty good overall.

Ya seems like I struggled with reading comprehension. Where do you say Team Shield, all you say is there may be 90/10 because of group think.
Who stated that? Just because there are 2 options, to like something or not like something, doesn't mean you should expect 50% approval. That's just weird.
And where are you getting 90% of people love the shield from? That seems to not be the case at all and I think a lot of the "team shield" thing was just to piss off groundhog day.
I'm pretty sure the saying is that 10% will love it no matter what and 10% will hate it no matter what. Not 50/50

Those are actually a "44" reference I believe.
Going with that, the brief reaction I got from a K-Stater was "Those look pretty good. Modern, but simple."

Pretty slick on their part. That is my favorite part of Syracuse's rebrand.

In recent memory the only (good or bad) reaction I have had to a B1G team uniform was the Indiana helmet that looked like a Christmas tree ornament. When I'm watching a game (and I don't watch much other than B1G games) I don't pay much attention to uniforms and, as this thread confirms, there has been way too much attention given to the new Illini unis. Of course it is the offseason.

From a development point of view, a company would never develop a product with a 50% acceptance rate. That would equate to ~40% survival rate of the product within 3 years. A 90% acceptance rate is FAR from a statistical improbability. It is rare, but hardly unheard of for an acceptance rate, especially with a loyal following for the product. No large corporation would launch a product that is to be used in a commercial space with an acceptance rate of <60%. Talking psychology is fun, but at the end of the day this is a commercial enterprise for Nike, economics and purchase intent is much more important. The Shield/Badge has that.
