I miss all this fun because I am one of the only people that follow mainly football for Illinois (I know Ill is basically a basketball school). I have another school I mainly follow for basketball.

Anyway, the fun I miss. All I know is we have our coach (Cubit):(

Ha, thats kind of a backwards way of doing things here at Illinois. Takes a special kind of Brave to admit you really only root for the the Illinois football team.

Speaking after Monday's campus senate meeting, Wilson declined to say whether interviews are completed or provide a more specific timetable for the decision.

"There are just all sorts of rumors and things out there and I can't say anything at this point," she told The News-Gazette. "I'm working closely with the committee is all I can say.

"I've got to keep this thing alive and well. Leaks cause problems."

Serious question now..

1) Are you just toying with us all?

2) Is it a candidate we've all been talking about that we didn't think was going to accept the job (George/Tiley)?

3) Is it another candidate who hasn't been talked about at all.. Shawn Wax? Jim Phillips? Or... gulp... someone convinced Kowalczyk to be the permanent guy?

I highly doubt it's number 3. I'm hoping for number 2. I'm not ruling out number 1 but I'm banking on the none of the above answer and that it's probalby Michael (barf) or Whitman (yawn).

Note the mention of "leaks." This isn't one. Julie Wurth is the N-G's workhorse news reporter, she only works with confirmed info. They've picked someone, and it's either Whitman or Michael. The reference to those two candidates in that article came from the same source.

I've learned that these types of "signals" arent worth asking questions about.

Smart money has seemed to be on Whitman all along.

I can tell you what " :shield: " means.

It means: "I read the News-Gazette article that was posted 20 minutes ago that was obviously timed and orchestrated by the administration to signal a imminent announcement that the selection is either Whitman or Michael in an effort to stay ahead of the leaks which they know are forthcoming."

That's what I was banking on.

You better start posting random things...we have a few pages left to go.

I think I may have to go the opposite and try to oppress people's posts, Illinois doesn't look that close to a decision.

Seems like it. I suspect Michael was mentioned as one of the two possibilities in the article because they couldn't just mention Whitman by himself, that would give the whole thing away.

Unless it's the opposite ... cold chill

Sounds about right.

Please, please, please let it be Whitman.
