Illinois politics: "If you ain't corrupt, you ain't trying."
Lmao so true in Illinois

I'm sure that's exactly how Wilson and Killeen see it. Why should this be different than any other campus executive hiring decision. The most important thing is that we adhere to the process. The process is king.
And that's how we became the only university in the major college sports universe that needs 16 months to hire a football coach and has leadership that somehow thinks that's reasonable.
I guess this is " moving forward". Where's the Basketball connection, and football? Head of search is WHO? ( the guy who spends his time inside a horse's A**). The only thing we need now is the badmitton coach on the committee.

At what point can Killeen get fired? Does the BOT decide this? He's the only non-interim idiot we have in place. Clearly he has no idea how to run a Big Ten university.
Would have been nice to have a former player and current DIA employee on the committee (this should have Dee's name all over it).
Yeah, but our DIA? He just might.
I would think people interested in the job and people who want certain people to be considered (Rick George and others), will make sure their resumes are in play with the committee, Kileen et al. As much as this is the official process, I imagine there will be an unofficial process as well. For example, those close to Rick George persuade him to throw his hat in the ring. He agrees to do so, and he meets unofficially with Kileen/Wilson, whoever. They tell him, he's the guy and he then submits his resume through the official process. I don't know that this will happen, but it could.
I don't think there's a chance either. But in our case, if he said he was never contacted, he probably was never contacted.Gang, the George thing is over. There's no one standing on the grassy knoll here. Khan reached out, offered the money to make it worth his while, George thought it over and politely declined.
While I completely agree with the sentiment of this post, I have to step up and defend the McDLT. That was a fantastic sandwich.

Does this mean we are leaving the B1G and taking our talents to the SEC?Illinois politics: "If you ain't corrupt, you ain't trying."
He was contacted on Illinois' behalf. He was not contacted by Illinois. That's how this works.
#illini search committee sounds very similar to Michigan, except interim AD Jim Hackett is involved there.
Y'know a move like that would cause more than a few eyerolls and might present some risk of being a distraction in the process, but at the same time, winning a news cycle might not be the worst idea for this University for once in our lives.

It's bad enough that we have to suffer through Shannon Ryan's coverage as beat writer. Now we have to listen to her snide tweets about the search committee. What she doesn't know about the UI would fill the State Farm Center.
As the Eeyore of sports writers, she should stick to writing more maudlin op ed pieces about her poor, poor put-upon son for the Trib, and leave the rest of us alone.
What is snide about reporting facts?

Did the facts she tweeted include this:What is snide about reporting facts?
He is not some guy they pulled out of the ivory tower who has no clue what a football is. He's actually a pretty appropriate choice.Dr. Wheeler was Chair of the Academic Progress and Eligibility Committee of the Athletic Board and Chair of the Board from 1999-2002. He is one of the Faculty Athletic Representatives for the University to the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
