Well, yeah. But we're Illinois fans still spending time discussing sports post-Cubitpocalypse, so I don't think anybody around here is expecting a sure thing in any regard.

I guess I'm just not looking forward to the caterwauling about someone who is a former revenue sport athlete at Illinois who spearheaded the construction of what seems to be an excellent SFC renovation, because he's not the galvanizing superhero people are looking for.

I don't think people appreciate how much of what a pathetic joke we are comes down not to a lack of administrative talent and foresight, but active, purposeful self-immolation.

If Michael isn't a complete idiot, he'll be the biggest breath of fresh air we've had in years.

For the record, Craig Tiley has NOT interviewed for the Illinois AD job. The Tribune report yesterday was inaccurate in that regard.

And this is proof that very few people know what's going on besides those directly involved.

There it is. The universe wants us to have Tom Michael. I guess I should go ahead and accept that now.

I honestly don't believe that until Shannon Ryan retracts. She's the best. Cation could very well just be covering for a friend.

If Cation was covering for a friend wouldn't that be a signal that Tiley isn't going to be the AD?

Doesn't say on his Twitter bio - doesn't look like a credible source.

What gave you that impression? That he's largely the only person liking his own tweets or that he thinks Bohemian Rhapsody was a David Bowie song?

That Rick Slater guy also tweeted back in December that Jason Heyward's deal was "North of $200 million", so I can't guarantee he's that great of a source.

Anyone would rather hire Tiley to run a Fortune 500 company, but we're looking for someone to command a corrupt bureaucratic hellscape straight off the cliff of financial irresponsibility and moral bankruptcy that is the cutting edge of NCAA athletics. It's a different job description.

Then nothing will ever change, and the country club members will get their country club back, and Illinois athletics will continue to suck.
