The thing that concerns me about this latest dead period is that we have no stealth candidate. Oh, I know, I know, "The last time around, Mike Thomas's name didn't surface until the very end of the search and he was on nobody's radar." But we also had a chancellor back then with some semblance of institutional control over the process and the willingness to bypass a bureaucratic step on occasion in order to move things along. The present administration operates about as stealthy as a battleship passing through a canal. At this point, I can only hope we're not just waiting for Godot, except Godot does show up and he's Tom Michael.
There are stealth candidates that have never yet been identified in the press or on these all knowing forums. Anyone that assumes they know of every vetted candidate and/or those actually interviewed is simply mistaken.
