OK, Archie is about to be made available any second now. Let's see how long it takes to resolve our issue.

I do occasionally have plans on a Friday. ;)

No idea about this Monty thing. Hope it's true. If the boards are scooping the real reporters that would be pretty wild.

Umm trolling social media for the coach that will eventually take us to the promised lands aren't considered "plans"?

I think LA sports fans just have so many other options that it's hard for UCLA to really be a huge draw, even when they are a superb team. USC is a "football school." Oregon is a "football school" at this point but certainly seems like they may develop a fervent basketball fanbase in time. The rest just historically have been "okay" at basketball. I guess I don't really know much about attendance at Washington.

It is true that LA does not care about sports in general

Someone fill me in. Is there some recent scoop about Monty Williams or something?

If this monty news is true I am going to lose my mind. Regardless of success if you told me a year ago we would end up with Love Smith and Monty Williams I would have laughed you out of the room and then thought about what a terrible state out athletic department and university was in.

Seriously, what "news" is there?

When a metro area of 15-20 million can't consistently support an NFL team it tells you sports isn't high on the list of priorities

Yep. Also, I think the traffic is just such a deterrent going to these games isn't even on the radar.

For example, from Santa Monica to Pauly Pavilion it is 5 miles - this moment, 35 minute commute.

Coach Grey Giovanine and the Augustana Vikings won tonight playing in their second D3 National Championship game in 3 years. Giovanine is one heck of a coach was the head man at Lamar before giving up D1 basketball and coming to Augstana and building a D3 power there. Maybe we should take a look at him sure worked out well for Wisconsin when they went this route

It's amazing how fickle the board is. Majority says they want a guy, then as soon as smoke picks up around that candidate, it's all second guessing. People were disappointed when Monty apparently backed out, now rumors picking up again and people are coming out of the woodwork to say no good.

There are CERTAINLY some cons and some unknowns to Monty Williams, but it would be naive to think that guys like Miller and Marshall, and even Bennett come in without their own cons. No one has had great success recruiting Chicago, and an ex NBA coach who coached and mentored Anthony Davis and some of the BIGGEST NBA stars is a huge get for our school if we can get him.

Even if Monty would somehow leave for an NBA job, bringing him in raises our credibility. Everyone that thinks Marshall or Miller are sure thing slam dunk hires can look at Shaka Smart as evidence that those moves don't always pay immediate dividends. In the long term, I think Monty helps us on MANY MANY fronts.

Could it possibly be that those who want Monty post disappointment when it is thought that he won't come, and those that don't want him post disappointment when he might come?

Sorry to single this post out, but there have been at least 4 of these today. There are lots of fans and we all have different opinions. Most only post to get frustration off of our chests.
