Here's a question: If Missouri ends up signing __________ (insert anyone really) for said $3.5 mil that they are willing to spend, does JW feel AT ALL obliged to pay that or more for whomever we sign?

If it is Bennett, I hope that Tilmon isn't dissuaded by Walker leaving and the slowdown style of play, because in Bennett's system JT would DOMINATE. He could play either screener position, stretch to 17 feet, get a chance to handle the ball facing up, and get tons of pindowns on the low block. He'd be a potential All-American if he stayed three years.

You're totally right. Switch Muller for Steve Forbes. I was on an alternate timeline.

Think you're spot on with that call. Forbes is like a god here in Johnson City but, ETSU doesn't have the money bags to keep him for too much longer.

Even his short-term buzz at Mizzou on the recruiting trail hurts us.

It's exceedingly similar to the PJ Fleck situation.

Understood, my argument is more that I would prefer Mizzou to get someone who's strength is recruiting instead of coaching.

The legend of Cuonzo the recruiter is starting to slightly outstrip reality.

Cuonzo would be a nightmare at Mizzou. Don't forget Mizzou is still reeling from post football and race related strikes (forced so may retirements). Enrollment was down and the school has been down. Getting a coach, like Cuonzo, begins to rebrand Mizzou.

Based on the past year or so Mizzou really needs the rebranding. For them Cuonzo is worth more than he is for most schools. I do not think we would win that battle as I think Mizzou would outbid us by a lot.

I wonder if they are specifically looking for an African American coach to help with the uprise of the student body and student athletes

I know once I post this I'm going to get murdered here. I know Bennett is a good coach and a winner but I don't want to watch his boring style of play at UI at all. I think some of current recruits might leave because their style doesn't fit Bennett's at all. Take it easy on me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't mind watching good defense and his offense may be slower, but is incredibly efficient. I honestly don't care if it's not the fast paced exciting style that some teams play as long as he wins games. He's been very successful at Washington State and Virginia which are two programs that, imo, don't offer the basketball resources that we are able to offer. I'd be thrilled if Bennett came here.

No. JW is going to make a competitive offer to coaches that he wants regardless of what happens at Mizzou. If Mizzou is going to pay 3.5 mil for a guy we will call Cuonzo M then let them overpay him. I don't think it influences what JW does at all

Trust me if we can get Bennett we take him. I really didn't think we had a shot until recently. Talk radio out here has turned on him too, its time to strike

I don't really want Cuonzo here, but I don't want him at Missouri A LOT more. That will be a recruiting nightmare for us.

Meh, I think that if he sticks around (a first, btw) he will Zook himself into irrelevance. Not right away, unfortunately, but eventually

Man I hope we get to the point where we can tune out those kinds of accomplishments.

Its not that they hate him, they just don't like his boring style of play and don't think their team has lived up to expectations. It is completely odd....he would be my #1 and then some. Just depends on if UVA will pay up to keep him
