Well, I agree, but it seems like plenty of others think it has to be Marshall or Miller. Of course, I like them both, but I do like Drew. I just never thought he was in play because he wouldn't leave Vandy after one season.

Neither did I, and with private school guys you have no idea what they're making, but I did hear he was interested in Illinois last year, and if he asks his Associate Head Coach, we know what his opinion will be, so this seems at least semi-plausible.

There are plus and minuses here.
Plus, brings the Rev home
Plus, can coach
Plus, has a shady brother to mentor him hahaha
Minus, don't get the warm and fuzzies that he can keep this current recruiting class together and add Smith UNLESS he retains Walker

All in all, a respectable hire with a potential big upside
Plus it might land us Tim Finke?

If it is Drew, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I guess underwhelmed would be my initial reaction. Has nothing to do with the game against NW today either. Just think there are better options out there.

If we bring in Drew, and he keeps Walker, along with bringing back the Rev, I would be very excited about where we might go.

What Vandy game were some of you watching? Their offense of jacking up contested threes is what we just fired! For the hundredth time, those of us who oppose Drew are not doing it because of the mistake his player made at the end. It was his poor clock management, disorganized offense and their 19-16 record. And from an optics standpoint it doesn't look good to hire the only team to lose a tournament game to Northwestern. Next please!

Vandy doesn't have a lot of talent and he did a great job. College basketball is about spreading the floor and penetration and shooting 3s. With the talent he could get here he would do great. Drew needs to bring Powell and keep Walker if he's the guy

You realize the "better options" could also be waiting for better options or could just be happy where they're at. As much as this board thinks we can just go snag anyone with millions of dollars and JW's smile, that's not close to realistic.

If you get a coach like Drew interested and excited about coming here, that would be a big deal.

Martin was underwhelming to me. At the very least, Drew is very interesting. It could be that Keatts is a better bet, but who knows? I hope JW does. What I do appreciate, is that after the "OMG'" part of seeing Crean canned, and IU up for grabs, there are still very viable options should the consensus top three not work out.

I believe Stallings had a similar or better record with this team last year.

I think I'd take the other Drew first.

I'm not talking about Bennett, Archie or Marshall. I never thought any of those were realistic options. Personally was hoping for Keatts.

TIFWIW, but I'm hearing the 'big' names are unlikely. Prolly gonna be Drew, Keatts, maybe Jankovich. Not awful, but also not that exciting.

I don't pretend to be an expert on Vandy basketball, but didn't Stallings get fired last year after leading pretty much the same team to the Tourney and a better record?

Stallings took over at Pitt for Dixon

As S&C said there's some great stuff in the last coaching thread. Take a look and post anything good!

The closest candidate out of Smart, Theus, and Grant to Bill Self is Reggie Theus.

There's so much more...great stuff.

I still refuse I could have possibly said something so incredibly stupid and was serious. At least I hope not. I still do not believe I could have possibly typed anything that horrific.
