At the end of the day, I want the best guy period. I don't really care if someone is upset and leaves. If I got the best man for the job, then I improved the team.

One thing to consider, Kane getting promoted likely brings us 0 recruits. Leonhard coming on board could bring a guy or 2 with him, or land those guys we think are lost because of Walters leaving.

Any time a coach leaves, it's an opportunity to improve. We are in a better place now than when this staff was hired.

But what is we lose Kane and then guys like Jacas and Coleman leave because of it?

I'd imagine bringing in a guy like Leonhard would excite players more than scare them off. I'm not advocating getting rid of Kane. Just that a threat to leave wouldn't stop me from going after someone, if I thought that other person was better.

You think Jacas and Coleman would leave if Leonhard came? I understand relationships and all but why would they not want to be coached by one of the best DC’s in college football?
Yeah, it’s not like young men have ever made impulsive decisions. If Kane leaves, they’ll have lost the two coaches who they likely credit the most for putting them into a position for success. Not saying you keep Kane for that reason nor that they will leave if he’s gone too, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they looked elsewhere.

is there a mandatory posting period after a job becomes available?
I don't know the facts of posting period requirements. I do know that Coach Cubit was fired on Thur. March 3rd, 2016 (JW's official first day on the job) and Coach Lovie Smith was announced on Mon. March 7th, 2016.

I, for one, think BB pulls off the dream scenario here and brings in Leonard in some AHC type role with offensive and defensive responsibilities, promotes Kane to DC calling plays and gets both. Kane making $1M as DC should be enough for him to stay. If Leonard doesn't have any HC offers he wants to take, spending a year with a HC he trusts and building his resume for a HC role in a year would seem to make a lot of sense. Stacking talent in the coaching staff is how the big time programs do it and what BB is building here- would be awesome to see
