He’s better than Geoff at least
Didn't get Your Guy, eh?
My condolences.
The pain never really goes away, but in time your coping mechanism will get better.

Luther Head will pay his salary.I suspect the Brian Randle thing may never die.
So if Irvin gets the Alexander position will we offer an assistant coach on an NBA championship team a video coordinator spot?

Back before Tim Anderson was officially announced as our next AC3, were his services generally available to players preparing for the draft? Just curious. My guess is that it was announced so they may use it to help try to bring back a very talented big man who might go astray.
Probably lost to Lincoln in high schoolCmon with that.
I don’t know if you’ve got something personal against the guy or not but he’s our coach and has been loyal to Brad and taken a back seat when he could’ve easily gone elsewhere and taken on a bigger role. He deserves some respect.
Sounds like an awful hire and someone that we should all trash ad nauseum! /sI know this has been posted before...but below is an excerpt from Tim Anderson's bio on the Depaul website. Really impressive and a great selling point to recruits. Yes, this is a good hire.
"Known as one of the top basketball trainers in the nation, most recently he worked with the Nike EYBL's MeanStreets AAU program while also training the nation's top players at the high school, collegiate and professional levels as founder of Ground Zero Training. Six players were selected in the 2017 NBA Draft that worked under Anderson and Ground Zero, and in the last four years a total of 21 NBA selections have prepped for the draft with GZT."
I don’t understand this take. Does he not blow your mind because you just aren’t familiar with him? Because I think anyone in the know would say this is an excellent hire as a third assistant. He’s been lauded on this very board going back years by people who were connected to the AAU sceneGood addition, but not of the “blow your mind” level to me. Let’s see if he can land Casey and/or Washington. Good luck to him.
Wolves and others too. No longer being reliant on the MIF is a very good thing and is definitely attainable.I might be too optimistic here, but damn would it be cool if this patches up the relationship with MeanStreets. If Illinois can pull kids from MIF and MeanStreets with some consistency that would be incredible.
Yeah, he pulled some guys into DePaul that definitely surprised me.I don’t understand this take. Does he not blow your mind because you just aren’t familiar with him? Could it be so that his new role doesn’t impact players deciding whether or not to stay in there he Draft?I'm good with it, can't say I'd ever heard of him before this hiring process but I like his diverse connections. Mostly happy the thread can now die!
Curious though, if you're going to speculatively announce it with a delayed starting date, then way wait till now? If it was the theory to allow sneaky unofficial recruiting for Illinois before being hired, then why not wait till July 26th to announce to maximize that? If it was due to his contractual obligations to clients for his training prep for NBA draft, etc., I guess delaying the announcement helps not piss of his paying customers who want him solely focused on them. Maybe this was a happy middle ground announcement date given BU/JW's pressure to announce something as speculation grew...
Would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall for the behind the scenes negotiations of the timing of all of this
I think the next few AC hire carousels we may see a very different skillset being pursued for at least one AC focused on corporate business development / fundraising to align with NIL....or maybe that becomes a non-coaching staff role, or AD position across football & men's hoops...guess we'll see how it all unfolds.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Now that players have decided whether to stay in the draft or come back, there is no chance that he would be interacting with a student who may choose to withdraw from the draft and transfer to Illinois, while he was publicly announced as an AC at Illinois.Could it be so that his new role doesn’t impact players deciding whether or not to stay in there he Draft?
You’re going to judge him on pulling in Washington in under a week? When he’s already got 6 crystal balls to UNC? That seems like a hefty expectation.Good addition, but not of the “blow your mind” level to me. Let’s see if he can land Casey and/or Washington. Good luck to him.
NB2D, I like Deon Thomas for this post. What are your thoughts on that? This appears to be a great addition. Look for Irving or Randall to take Geoff's old spot. Just a guess.
Under a week and in a week in which he isn't actually working for us.You’re going to judge him on pulling in Washington in under a week? When he’s already got 6 crystal balls to UNC? That seems like a hefty expectation.
Slightly unrealistic too. You’re going to judge him on pulling in Washington in under a week? When he’s already got 6 crystal balls to UNC? That seems like a hefty expectation.
Well, it's official he failed. He had a few hours and couldn't lock it down. Terrible hire. /sYou’re going to judge him on pulling in Washington in under a week? When he’s already got 6 crystal balls to UNC? That seems like a hefty expectation.
