Tim Beckman no longer a volunteer coach at UNC

Always amazed at how "has been" coaches just get recycled through the sport at every level (from H.S. to the Pros). You can truly be a horrible coach (and there are some doozies!) and still get paid. Absolutely the most mind boggling thing in the world of football.

A free scouting report, I imagine.

As for him being booed out of the building, I'm not totally sure that a "volunteer" coach is even allowed on the field. Doesn't the NCAA have a ton of regulations concerning the number of coaches and what their level of participation can be? Anyway, I don't think UNC has any interest in trotting him out there. See paragraph one. His utility to them is ...shall we say, limited.

Unless UNC has an overwheling desire to receive multiple sideline penalties or watch Beckman get trucked by a ref, they wont let him on field

Hey @TarHeelFootball, FYI, Beckman isn't allowed within 300' of his former office.
I drew a diagram to help you out

Buahahahaha that is one funny post. Maybe Tim can stand behind the one end zone open to him and try to catch field goal and extra point attempts?

Beckman thinks he has a leg up because Cubit is head coach... ;)

Shannon Ryan reporting that Beckman's duties will be limited to scouting and watching film. And although it wasn't said, I assume also coming up with acronyms. (Two Es in "Tar Heels" so he's already got a head start.) Basically, a pity position. Fedora is a friend, and I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of coaches from that Pat Dye/Jim Tressel/Urban Myer family tree didn't believe that their friend got a raw deal here. Still, notice how none of those old friends are offering an actual real job involving monetary compensation.

This whole Beckman/UNC situation is about as dumb as US Cellular changing its name to Guaranteed Rate Field.

I'm convinced you could let him sit in on every team meeting, coaches meeting and practice and not only would it not help UNC, but it would make us a prohibitive favorite.

As of this timestamp, 10:40PM eastern, ESPN, is now streaming this event on their ribbon crawl of news along the bottom of the screen. So it appears the powers that be in sports are playing this up as something whatever...

So at the end of the game on 9/10, no matter the outcome, is ESPN going to be there to witness the hand shaking of former and current head coaches???? The fickle finger of fate is rearing its ugly head here for unnamed, unknowing purposes.

Good Stuff here!

As much as all of these Beckman boners hurt as they were happening in the past, they make me rollover laughing now. What a clown show that guy is.
