Rumors were 5th year dual threat QB. Briscoe, from not knowing anything about him, but looking at his stats this year....is not a duel threat QB

I heard that the QB in question was an ex-VT player now in CC.....that would mean its dwayne lawson that illini are going after

Yah i noticed that too, if it is him, hes a dual threat and should have 2 years elg. Really curious why Lovie has this so quite, maybe he thinks he has something?

I would be completely okay with him as our QB for the next two years. Give Thomas a redshirt year and then one more learning year for him to take over

Only concern with Lawson is that he has a history of off-field issues. Couple of failed drug tests and suspensions while at VT

Briscoe went to UAB originally to play for McGee specifically when he had larger offers. McGee has recently shared some articles about the success that Briscoe has had at Sam Houston State. A couple things would prevent this from happening, Briscoe probably is going to have a draft stock similar to that of Carson Wentz if he decides to come out this year, especially with the poor QB class that is in place. I don't think it makes a lot of sense on his part to spend another year in college, but 18-22 year old kids are a different breed. This seems like a major stretch, but would be phenomenal if it did happen.

This Lawson kid is very Cam Newtonesque in skill set. Off the field problems are a major concern...but the kid can play.

I heard the Lawson stuff from a recruiting helper, not saying it 100 % but it's verry likely, not to mention he follows every coach on twitter, Illinois on BTN, Illini athletics and Illini football. So I am fairly certain that this is gonna happen
