Transfers Thread

I concur, and can only imagine how recruiters from other schools are using all of these transfers against us when they are in front of a recruit. I hope we end up with a blockbuster signing class, but I am concerned.

There were about 800 graduate transfers alone last year, not including underclassman. Alabama has 5 star guys who transfer and yet, they seem to do okay recruiting. I’m not concerned.

Not surprised at all by these transfers. None of these guys were Lovie recruits.

Please don't ever mention Alabama and Illinois recruiting in the same sentence again. Alabama has kids lining up around the block to play there. The five stars that transfer can't get playing time. Good grief.

The issue is still the same, lack of playing time leads to transfers. Whether it is five stars or three stars, if they cannot find the field, players look for places where they can play.

No, the point is there are kids lined up around the block to replace the kid that transfers from Alabama. Not at Illinois.

Actually, that wasn’t the point I was getting to get across. I was responding to a post that said other schools will use our transfers against in recruiting. Likewise, Alabama has 5 star kids leaving, yet they are not hurt by other blue blood schools using this against them.

Additionally, I’m sure there are plenty of kids who would jump at the chance to play D1 football at power 5 conference school, but they probably aren’t of the same quality as those Alabama would consider replacing kids with.

Ahh, now that makes more sense.

I also noticed that Desmond Cain is on the roster for NDSU:

He started one game for them and had five receptions in the regular season.

I always wondered why Trenard Davis (Cain's cousin) stuck around since his future looked pretty dim after 2016. He was ruled academically ineligible in 2015 and went to Parkland for a semester before being admitted to the U of I in January of 2016. He stated that he stuck with Illinois mainly because of Cain's presence on the team.

I give him credit for working his way into the rotation at WR this year.

Lovie has gone all Epstein/Hoyer on this team. The players off the previous regimes are coming off the books and his guys are being added on and developed.

I LOVE the way he's going about this. I'm sure it's not easy on the Cubit/Beckman kids, but college athletics is a business and he's getting paid to get this operation running again.

Seeing how the recruiting has picked up in the last couple of weeks, I think it's working. It's a lot easier to sell playing time to a recruit, when the track record is there to play freshman, regardless of position. Best man wins.

That's really all a High School senior can ask for when choosing schools. Go to a place where he can play immediately and make a difference.

Is it possible to update where the players transferred to as they get offers and accept them from other schools? Thanks!

A good site for tracking transfers is here. https://gradtransfertracker.com

Interesting tidbit that probably means absolutely nothing. 2 of the Grad transfer QB's have previous relationships with guys who may be Offensive Coordinator candidates.

Jalan McClendon NC State- Matt Canada was OC at N.C. St at the time

Quinten Dormady Tennessee- Was recruited by Mike Bajakian

Again it probably means less than nothing, just thought it was interesting.
