Anyone have a read on what’s going on? I felt like last week it was sure that he’d be out the entire season. Now it’s hard to tell. Too many rumors. Too many whispers

We won't have a better read until after the hearing. If the Rape charge goes away, expect him to play again this season. If it doesn't, his season is over

Does anyone know if the accusers statement has been released yet? That's what boggles my mind. I would have thought that would have been released with the foia. That will give a lot of information and do a lot to clear things up. I don't see much of reason to not release it.

Not a lawyer and have limited knowledge of how things like this go..

But at the preliminary hearing is it possible that they could dismiss the rape charge and continue with a sexual battery/lesser offense?

It’s extremely unlikely that any charge will go away or be reduced at the January 18th hearing. This is simply an arraignment. The judge will read the charges and TSJ will enter his plea. It’ll likely be a cattle call with several arraignments happening in succession. No evidence will be presented at this hearing from either side.

Last night towards the end of the game I thought it was interesting how the announcers talked about the suspension

He basically said TSJ was involved in an incident and we don’t know how long the suspension will be or when he will be back

The way I heard it it sounded like he thought TSJ could be back this season. It is one thing to read it here but if the media talks about it there might be actual movement. He could have easily have said he is charged with rape and is suspended indefinitely. Just the way he picked his wording was interesting. I might be reading into things too much
I thought the same. Hopeful, for sure.

Not trying to suggest anything or stir the pot but I encourage you to google Jayhawk bar in Lawrence, KS and read some of the reviews.

Here is one from 4 years ago.

I’m a 32 year old white man and i have read articles about a certain “Albert N. Wilson” and how he was sentenced horrendously because of this cafe, if I were African-American , I’d stay far away for sure !

I continue to believe that both charges will need to be dropped. Hopefully, the insiders are right, and there is some sort of deal in the works. I can't see the DA dropping anything unless the accuser stops cooperating.

No idea if anyone made him take it off but I don’t think it helps to mount a public pressure campaign. That would probably just make a DA double down.
Exactly the reason why I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones to insist it be pulled

That's my thought too. The guy who posted would surely know he would receive some negative attention. I think it's more likely coming from TJ's team. Don't want to do anything that could disrupt whatever (hopefully) progress os being made on a deal.

If the DA is even remotely like the person described in the opinion article referred to in one of the earlier threads, an ideologue who pushes her bad cases long after her factual basis has evaporated and in the face of commentary extremely critical of her conduct, I would not hold out hope for an early dismissal exonerating TSJ, regardless of how innocent he may be.

Unfortunately, this is my lingering fear … my main hope is that she realizes this might finally be the case with which she went a bit too far and/or the one that’s too public AND the witness recants for one reason or another. Otherwise, I’m mostly preparing for no TSJ.

With that said, I DO think TSJ is innocent, and I choose to trust the insiders. I’m a glass half full guy, and unless you’re so mentally fragile that disappointment of any kind breaks you … I frankly find the glass half empty persona as an excuse to just be a sour puss and present it as being ~so realistic~. Having hope (while not losing touch with reality) is objectively a virtue.

I think this is becoming pretty apparent to certain people. I will leave it at that.
