“as they [complainant and friend] were trying to leave [the “Martini Room” level
of the Jayhawk Café bar], there was a black male near the door she thought was
attractive who started to waive (sic) her over.” The complainant’s friend then
“encouraged her to go back into the Martini room and talk to him.” Complainant
“confirmed she felt like the touching of her buttocks over her skirt was ok with
her but it was not ok with her with [the accused] placing his finger inside her
vagina.” The complainant “stated she did not speak with the male at all or have
any interactions with him." The complainant “stated the male did not physically
restrain her"

In a public place, and there are multiple witnesses to back up Shannon that the police never bothered to interview.

I feel like by the time this is done, I'll be finished with the equivalent of my 2nd year of law school.

And you won't be alone.

We all thought that we were settling in for yet another great season of Illini roundball. A season in which we long for great things on the long 'Beloveds' journey to The Big Dance... and then doing lots of Dancing when green shoots begin to appear on bare Illinois tree branches. And that when The Dance is over, it is the Orange & Blue that’s left dancing when the last song for the season is played. As confetti rains down upon their wide grins and vigorous embraces.

But then... the unexpected happens. Something serious. Something that affects the life of a key part of the Illini family. A young man who had lots of offers when he was ready to leave the Prairie of Texas for new surroundings for himself and who chose to come back to Prairie State itself and represent the best hoops state and best fans on the planet.

He flashed some great basketball talent. His energy and versatility gave us glimpses of a spectacular career yet ahead. And it may yet happen as such.

But Life interrupted the story and barged in and said, ‘Just a moment, young man! Things won’t be that simple for you, or for your Team. You need to deal with something else right now and face it head on. And your Team will have to carry on without you and continue it’s quest for that College Ball Holy Grail.’

And so, there we are. And as impressive as the Illini have been on the floor this season...so is all the legal work and legal theory going on right now behind the scenes by unseen parties all working to further their own goals and agendas. And the futures of a young man, a young woman, a proud basketball program... and many others... family, friends, tomorrows... is played out on a different court and being lead by different players who play a different game. A game that is more serious than any game that can be played on a ball court.

We just hope that this game is being played fairly by all players... and when the final horn of this serious game sounds... that it is a truly fair result for all concerned.

And we can all just go back to the fun of this great game and the joys it can bring.

Maybe you can’t say but….how was he positively identified as the individual who touched her?

She stated she didn't have an interaction with him but also says he put a finger down there?

when an employee goes to work for a large business/corporation isn't it standard they sign an agreement which binds them to the company's policy? Doesn't mean they couldn't sue for wrongful termination at a later date but initially they would be bound by the agreement to allow the business to suspend.
Does anyone know if athletes have to sign some agreement binding them to the process he is now in? If so, how does he get around this?

" it will unfortunately be negativity we will have to face every gym we go into moving forward"

I'm afraid, RedWing, that will be the case regardless of how it plays out.
Great teams feed on this. It will work to our advantage on the road, IMO

This is dead wrong
Care to elaborate more? Do you believe a court is going to grant this in favor for TSJ? And if so, what would incline JW/BU to actually play him besides the obvious point of TSJ giving you a greater chance at winning? Do I think the evidence is flimsy and the case shoddy? Absolutely. But I think that because I am a fan who has been following this case closely from the beginning. The average person just sees the headline and makes their judgement, and in the court of public opinion this typically does not favor the accused. I'm struggling to see how playing him before the case is resolved (especially if his path to playing goes through this suit and not the university process) benefits the university besides potentially more wins for the basketball team.

How much of the panel upholding the suspension is due to not having enough info to make a fair assessment? I always assumed that would be the most likely outcome after learning about the panel.

Yes. And I don't the the university will fight this much at all. This would not be happening if they thought there was a chance to point to him being guilty
