And now we wait for TWD to come back from break. AMC can be frustrating.

And they don't have anything to fill the void until then. In the past they've been able to rotate Breaking Bad, TWD, Hell on Wheels, and MadMen so that there was usually only a few weeks without a new episode of something.

TWD is off til February, Better Call Saul doesn't start until February, Hell on Wheels just wrapped up its season, and the premier date for season 2 of Turn is just listed as Spring 2015.

Mad Men has been on its midseason hiatus for 8 months now and a date hasn't been selected either. I don't understand the concept of these breaks. Is it to allow viewers to "binge" and catch up? Mount the tension for viewership purposes?

Is anyone Watching "The Missing" on Starz? I have seen the first two episodes and it has been good so far. It is about a boy and his family traveling in France during the World Cup in 06 and the boy gets kidnapped. There is a lot of back and forth between present day and back to 06, but none the less it has been solid so far.

Thoughts on the series finale of Sons of Anarchy? I thought it offered better closure to the series than many other shows. Without giving away spoilers, my only real complaint was with the final scene; not the way that it ended necessarily, but rather how it was shot.

Gave up on the walking dead twice. Not going back.

However, if anyone is not watching Homeland - you should. Its been incredible (every season).

I was into Homeland initially but I thought it jumped the shark with the terrorist that became a Congressman like it was nothing. That and the Carrie Mathison character that is so annoying to me, that I couldn't take it anymore.

I tried Walking Dead a little too, but didn't take for me. I watched Breaking Bad early on too, but it didn't do anything for me. Several have told me to go back to it and stay with it a little longer and I'd like. I just don't want to invest the time now.

I generally don't like comedies on TV (not sure why), but I have become a fan of Brooklyn 99. I also like Keye and Peele if that is considered a show. My kids turned me on to Drunk History which I think is a riot, but I'm not sure when it is on.

The Newsroom is a good one especially if you don't want to invest too much time. They decided to stop writing for the show at the conclusion of season 3. The last episode was on last night.

I like/liked The Newsroom, but I love almost anything Aaron Sorkin writes. I was watching last night and fell asleep. I'll have to finish the episode up tonight. I also had never seen Olivia Munn until this show. :thumb:

Breaking Bad was terrific. Can't wait for Better Call Saul.

I generally don't like comedies on TV (not sure why), but I have become a fan of Brooklyn 99.

Most TV situation comedy is just poorly written IMO and the goal seems to be to get a chuckle out of anyone who has a 12 second attention span and speaks english. The only current comedies I've found worth 1/2 hour of my life are Modern Family and Parks and Recreation. I watched a few episodes of Brooklyn 99 and its not bad but I never got hooked.

My all time favorite comedies are Arrested Development and Fawlty Towers. I still watch reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond but part of what I find so funny is Ray's mother who could have been inspired by my own mother. I'm just happy my wife is so mellow because my mother innocently said awful things to my wife about cooking, cleaning and child rearing. My mother died 5 years ago and now my wife and I can both laugh when Ray's mother insults Ray's wife.

Lots of my favorite shows have recently ended or are ending soon (Californication, Sons of Anarchy, Psych, Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, Justified, Mad Men, etc...).

I plan to catch up on the Game of Thrones hype, but there are a few series on Netflix that I've heard positive reviews for:
1. Black Mirror
2. Lilyhammer
3. Sherlock
4. Peaky Blinders
5. Bob's Burgers

Anybody have any input on these? Or have recommendations I may have overlooked?

Edit: List of shows on Netflix I am caught up on:
-Archer, Arrested Development, Bates Motel, Derek, Dexter, Freaks and Geeks, Hell on Wheels, House of Cards, How I Met Your Mother, The Killing, The League, Longmire, Lost, Louie, New Girl, The Office (U.S.), Orange is the New Black, Pretty Little Liars (guilty pleasure), Scandal, Scrubs, Top of the Lake, Undeclared, Weeds, The X-Files.

Edit 2: That's a lot of TV. Maybe I don't need a new show. :p

Highly recommend Rectify (don't expect a lot of action, but it's great), The Returned, The Fall, Happy Valley. For action/diversion you can't go wrong with Strike Back and Banshee. I don't see Homeland on your list. Definitely has valleys, but the time IMO. At its best, it's riveting.

Bob's Burgers is supposed to be really good. Ditto for Missing. Am really looking forward to Bosch.

Can't go wrong w/Sherlock. Lilyhammer is good, but not great.

All time greats: Deadwood & The Wire (and, yeah, I don't like Westerns either).

Of your suggestions, Rectify really caught my attention. Added to the list!

I've been waiting on a friend's ShowTime Anytime account info to get started on Homeland. I've heard complaints about its valleys, but I really enjoy a female lead (in both TV and film).

Season 3 of Homeland is not nearly as good as the previous seasons. But the show has bounced back. Also, anything's going to pale in comparison to season 1.

You should definitely watch Sherlock, its fantastic. Also on netflix, or however you choose to watch shows, I just watched that Marco Polo show. I liked it.
I dont know if they have been mentioned because I just ventured to this thread for the first time but, I am a huge fan of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. Also, Elementary.
There are the givens like SOA and Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
Theres a number of shows I enjoy watching, like Marvels Agents of Shield, Arrow, Flash, The League and others I am forgetting.

If you can, check out Sleeper Cell, a lesser known Showtime series way back that was probably just as good as Homeland. I was riveted although I thought the final episode was a little unbelievable. But aren't most?

I just caught up to "The 100"

1st season was kind of a Lord of the Flies type of scenario...sticking with it as feels like a big build up for the end of this season.

Justified is ending?!?!? :(

Justified and Walking Dead are my two favorite shows on TV. There are only a few that make me put down my computer and pay attention closely, but those two top the list.

With the uprising of very high quality cable programs, I feel like network tv is looking worse and worse by comparison. There are very few shows that I will actually pay attention to these days. The one comedy on network TV that I am still all about is The Goldbergs. Not sure if you watch that, but if you are between the ages of like 28-40, it really hits a homerun in the nostalgia department. If you aren't between those ages, it is still pretty hilarious imo.

Orphan Black might interest you.

Second Orphan Black. Good show, but the second season wasn't as strong as the first, IMO.

Omissions...

The Shield: Dirty cop drama. Great cast, great writing. Very gritty, not everyone's cup of tea.

Terriers: Cancelled after first season, but VVG show. Great writing and Donal Logue, say no more.

Rescue Me: Firehouse dramedy. Not as good as The Shield, but VG for the most part (has valleys). Worth a shot, IMO.

Friday Night Lights: some (many) will write this off as yet another dumb sports story or soap opera. Nope. Peter Berg made a mini-masterpiece, against all odds. Great writing, great cast. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
