I feel bad for Ben and Keaton. They tried to will us to a win.
Ben was absolutely playing hard, but he did turn into a bit of a pumpkin with his shooting (he wasn't the only one).

Wondering how many here would’ve supported fouling immediately so we could have run that final play right back at them?😉

One last thing on the last play because I already called out Z being out of position, but Andrej has to see that screen coming and be on Bilodeau’s right shoulder and square Dent up and move his feet.

Really any sort of resistance at all and he likely runs out of time.

Bummer. The west coast trips are hard. I don’t think anyone has swept the LA trip this year. A bit of a fluky game overall. Hopefully this gets us refocused for the postseason.

No you're right that was the play. It was just go downhill and take a layup or flop for a foul. I'm saying it wasn't that creative on Cronin's part.

When defending that you've gotta make them go side to side for at least some of the strides. We didn't do that. There's a difference between playing smart and playing tentative and I don't think brad has taught our guys that.
You are absolutely correct about the lack of creativity, but his guy made the play. However the pick at the 10 second line opened the flood gates for the dribbler. The picker was stationary and did not move into that position.

at what point do the crushing losses start to break the team apart? hope we’re not getting there but we will find out against UM

By and large, players just play man (Billions quote).

Fans take a lot of stuff worse in the moment, because we can’t control it. TSJ summed it up well when he said the fans are always nervous, but players don’t think like that.

And that’s not a shot at Illini fans, I think that’s fandom in general.

Only one team has ever swept the LA games and that was Michigan last year

Sure. If you’d like to be disappointed about that inbounds play… I’m all for it. It’s really disappointing.

But those who’d like to act like we don’t have our goals still in front of us are ridiculous.

JMO — I’m not even sure I’m ready to call this game a failure. Again, these were the rebounding stats from this game:

If we rebound with that intensity every game, we’ll win 99% of the time. It’s almost a fact
I think we killed our legitimate shot at a #1 seed with this loss but yes, I still think this is a FF quality team. I have zero concern about how these guys will react. Bad loss, take it out on Michigan.

Very similar ending as with Tennessee at home last year. Coast to Coast lay-up 😔

Agreed. That's what stings.

I think it was Werner who said only 1 team the past two years has swept the Los Angeles trip. Michigan last year.

@BatteredWifeSchwartz beat me to it

Literally -any- attempt to force him lateral and this is a W.

I agree with this take. It was a beautiful first 11 minutes, but after that, it was pretty much awful across the board.
What is an "inexcusable loss?"

Sure, I’ll give them those, but you don’t make up a 23 point deficit making a bunch of contested 2’s.
You make it up with 7 unguarded wide open 3’s and a bunch of easy layups.

A few of those 3’s were shots you would gladly let them take. Bad long range shooters than made them tonight. You play the percentages but occasionally it doesn’t work out.

Honestly that doesn’t make me feel any better right now

Question: Why didn’t Brad challenge that foul on Zvonimir against Perry with 15 seconds left in regulation? I didn’t see any contact. Is that not a challengeable play?

Thanks in advance. :)
