What is the record for Illinois having a lead and giving it up? Have the Illini ever lost a game where we were up by at least 23 points?
I could be completely out to lunch. But I believe in the Lute Olson Iowa days, Illinois blew a huge lead, because they could not beat the Iowa press.

Question: Why didn’t Brad challenge that foul on Zvonimir against Perry with 15 seconds left in regulation? I didn’t see any contact. Is that not a challengeable play?

Thanks in advance. :)
Minor contact to his body. Pretty tricky tack call, but once they make it they will almost never take it back.

Lose one or two games like this and chalk it up to a learning experience. But when you continue to lose again and again in a similar manner, that is a problem. We are good, but not good enough.

So it’s a bad thing the losses are all buzzer beaters and/or OT? If we had just not fought back to tie it and lost by 6 or whatever in regulation we’d have less of a problem? We need to lose with greater variety.

we also shot a REASONABLE % from 3 (31% - not great, but we were constantly in the 20s last year) and only had 9 turnovers.

Truth is, and no one would like to hear it - we’ll win if we play like that ALMOST 100% of the time. Today was just the minute exception.
Like make 1 more FT in regulation or don't take a 3 shot foul at the end of the first half.

Or we could just win. 😉

I think he wanted to keep the time out in case he needed to stop the clock.

We are like Tommy Boy when it comes to national perception and respect. Just when everyone is ready to put us on the 1 line we pull a game like this out of our a$$ and tear it to pieces; and now we will be staring straight at a 4. And it will most certainly be reflected in our poll position Monday just when it’s most important to be surging. Total lost opportunity but not unexpected from our program sadly.

Being up 33 to 10 and losing is coaching. Not calling 1, a single time out to slow their comeback is criminal. Sitting BigZ in 2nd half when brother is playing like he's hung over, horrible. Sitting on the bench with chin in Hand, confusing. Going to Zone and it working, then switching back to man, head freaking scratching. Making 7 million to lose by Layup again, Priceless.

Brad needs to get the message through to the players that in the NCAA Tournament there is no tomorrow or next game if you lose your edge. You can't shrug your shoulders and say we'll learn from a loss going forward---there is no forward. They have to play with intensity and not let up in any game, no matter how much you are ahead or behind. UCLA didn't give up or let up---we did. It has to stop completely or it will be another L to end the season.
