USC was a highly motivated roundball group today.

They may have been extra motivated by the pain and concern for what is going on right now back in So Cal. They may have focused that raw energy and tension into their approach to the Illini today.

It would have been nice (as always) to see Our Beloved prevail as we wish for every game. But if the Illini had to lose a game – today wasn’t a bad one. It may have served to heal just for a brief moment the horrors and devastation going on around the City of Angels which at times now more resembles a City of the Devil.

For both Our Beloved and the Trojans – ‘We Will Survive...’.
Maybe, but maybe out deficiencies showed up

I guess now we know why coach said we need to raise our floor. Also probably coach speak for we weren’t practicing well this week.

As bad as this is (and this is quite bad), they need to put this past them and win at Indiana. If not, then a three-game losing streak shall ensue.

This game was lost because of rebounding.

Some seem to think we are a good shooting team, we are not. We are a volume team. We're #8 in the nation in 3pt shots attempted and like 180, and will drop after this, in 3pt %.

However, we are tied for #1 in the nation in rebounding. And because we own the boards, we don't need to shoot at a high percentage. We just get more attempts than our opponents. And if we are hitting 3s, we blow teams out.

So the simple post-mortem to this game is, we got beat on the boards. If we get beat on the boards, we're not a great team.

Going from the PSU game to today, getting 2 pts from Morez makes me think Brad doesn't know what to do with him yet. How can he not be a serious part of the gameplan?

Credit to USC...but bonkers.

I also wonder if the PSU win got in these guys' heads.

Absolutely bitched us and if that trash by USC at the end of the group doesn’t motivate this group then they are a lost cause

Looked like a freshman scrimmage.
Duh? What is defense? I don't know, I'm only a freshman.

Let’s see, 11 am game, they’re underachieving and are in desperation mode with something to prove, we’re coasting on big wins, we’re missing our best player, and their best player has the game of his life. Yeah that’s a recipe for a loss like this.

It’s disappointing, but it was possible. We will be better than this going forward. And we do need KJ back.
