Redhawks win 17-14

3rd straight home loss this season and 5th straight home loss overall for Northwestern.

Last win for the Redhawks over a B1G opponent was back in 2003 when a team led by Ben Roethlisberger won, also at Northwestern.
My wife and I were at that game. All I kept thinking was "Jeez... who is this guy?" He did alright for himself, I guess.

Good stuff. Thanks. On a sidenote, I don't realize how all these contracts work for announcers. Obviously it looks like Benetti is free to ditch the White Sox when he needs to to also do these college games. And I know he's also doing those NBC peacock baseball games. I'm just impressed with how prepared he always sounds; to me, it seems he always does his homework for college sports and you'd never gues he spends his summers doing baseball. Plus I enjoy his sense of humor and self-depricating nature.

And thanks to you HoosierLand for all your recaps on the state teams, college trivia and everything else.

Oh yeah the contracts like that are a very common thing. Adam Amin, who is the primary Bulls PBP voice on NBC Sports Chicago, will have his national contract with Fox for football and baseball lead to him not calling Bulls weekend games (which interestingly Benetti was usually the sub for that but I don't know how that will work with Benetti's new deal). For any posters on here that are south siders or from the south suburbs, Benetti is part of the H-F mafia.

And you're welcome on the other part of your post. I usually only recap the EIU stuff but that's mostly due to being an alumni though I do at least like to make others aware of the goings on with the other public FBS/FCS schools in the state. The trivia stuff is more just due to google researching (which is more just a product of my research skills developed having a BA and MA in history).

Any combination of Stacey King, Adam Amin and Benetti makes for a good night of Bulls basketball

Uh...Buck is on ESPN now. Him and Aikman are the Monday Night Football team now.
Uh...and my thoughts on where he could be headed in his future still stands. I think he and his voice could be synonymous with calling the big games and events like Buck. Whether that is ESPN, Fox, or wherever. And yes I know, he doesn't call the all. Buck has hinted that he doesn't know how much longer or when it will be someone else's turn.

Ah my mistake. Your previous message made me think you thought Buck was still at Fox.

I could see Benetti eventually taking Gus Johnson's place on Fox if they get sick of him being on the lead team with Joel Klatt.

Not impossible that Kansas breaks that streak tomorrow. I bet they need one more (home vs Iowa State next week), but we'll see what happens around the lower parts of the top 25 later today.
Wow, they came up one spot short, to K-State no less. I'm sure the handful of weirdos who really care about KU football are bumming.

KU will be ranked with another win. Is it possible we might? I feel like we'd have to blow them out or something.

Vandy is probably #3 on the "longest time since being ranked" list, right?

Rutgers and Oregon State are "ahead" of Vandy. Here's the full list including lots of non-Power 5 schools:

And hype it is (I work in a tangential field.) Given the present cruising range of such cars, I'd stick with the traditional metaphor for the foreseeable future. ;)
As I’ve mentioned (probably ad nauseum) it’s 800 miles from home to Champaign. I don’t want to think, from what I e read, how long it would take via Tesla.

It's 700 for me. To be fair, there's a big difference between the cruising range @ 70 mph and cruising range in town. In any event (and pardon the pun), widespread, economic viability is way down the road.

Perhaps we should, however, plan for the day, and invent a metaphor describing an athletic team functioning like an electric juggernaut. "Firing on all terminals" doesn't really have the same ring to it.

"Now they have a full charge".....:cautious:

Don't forget metaphors for poor performance too. Perhaps dumpster fires will be replaced with battery fires...

The sun is really shining on their solar panels today.

But is that kind of success sustainable?
No more than 20% of the time. At midsummer. So we're basically saying that the offense on average can't even achieve a single competent down per series. :ROFLMAO:
