Please explain the reasoning:

Florida scores a TD to cut the score to 38-27 with 4 and a half minutes to play. They decide to go for the 2 point conversion and miss. I don't understand the thinking.
If they score it is 9 so a Tennessee touchdown keeps it a 2 score game at 16.

Perhaps a dumb move?

But I'd have to look at "the card" which has the mathematically-appropriate decisions outlined for the coaches. Off the top of my head, I don't see much difference between trailing by 11, 10 or 9. It's a 2-score deficit in all cases.

Certainly seems logical (to me) to kick the PAT and make it 38-28. I believe Beckman now lives in Florida. Not sure if there's any connection there or not.

Are other schools' coordinators speculated to leave for HC jobs, etc. as much as ours? E.g. thinking of Minnesota's OC and DC...
Could just be my bias, but sure does feel like there's more chatter, prediction, and insecurity around our assistants leaving (when we're having success; in FB or BB too). And I know it happens everywhere, but still feels extra for us.

1. Brent Venables, Clemson defensive coordinator - Total pay: $2.5 million

2. Tony Elliott, Clemson offensive coordinator - Total pay: $2.13 million

3. Mike Elko, Texas A&M defensive coordinator - Total pay: $2.1 million

4. Todd Grantham, Florida defensive coordinator - Total pay: $1.801 million

5. Alex Grinch, Oklahoma defensive coordinator - Total pay: $1.8 million

6. Barry Odom, Arkansas defensive coordinator - Total pay: $1.75 million

t-7. Pete Kwiatkowski, Texas defensive coordinator - Total pay: $1.7 million

t-7. Dan Lanning, Georgia defensive coordinator - Total pay: $1.7 million

9. Pete Golding, Alabama defensive coordinator - Total pay: $1.63 million

10. Derek Mason, Auburn defensive coordinator - Total pay: $1.5 million

Above are the Top 10 highest paid from 2021. These guys were probably perceived for good reason as "the best" and several are now head coaches. I would imagine the highest paid are pretty clearly the most-often-talked-about. Walters in now in the same general neighborhood.

That's the way I have always thought but I kind of see what @IlliniUnited is saying.
but you arent going to win if you think you can start trading touchdowns and making 2 pointers every stinking time .
at some point , you need to have some faith in your D stopping them once or twice and giving you a chance to score 10 unanswered points the old fashioned way.
Its almost like going for 2 in the first half after you missed a 1 pointer the previous score. I hated when Zook did that one time I recall

I have a feeling that Wisconsin is not as bad as they look right now.

Still, it sure is looking like 2-2 Wisconsin vs. 3-1 Illinois next Saturday. (And I'm not sure their fans were anticipating a 2-3 start this season!)

Final score in Murray, KY: EIU 35, Murray State 21

Much better play from Panthers this weekend after they were outplayed by ISU last weekend. EIU runs for 340 yards, 160 of which came from third-string sophomore RB Kendi Young, who had a 36 yard TD run late in the 1st half. Panthers also forced 5 Racer turnovers, including 4 INTs.

EIU returns to action on October 8th vs. Northwestern State. Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM and the game will air on ESPN+.

NIU tied with Kentucky at halftime, 14-14.

As for the 2-point conversion, I think the thinking is that when you are chasing 14 in the 4th quarter, you get that first TD and go for 2 and if you make it, then you win the game on the next TD with an extra point. And if you miss the 2 after the first TD, you get another chance to go for 2 to tie. Analytics say you slightly increase your odds of winning by going for 2 after the first TD. Same with chasing 17 only now you also need the FG obviously. Chances are 99.9 percent you are losing in that situation anyway.

At least that's what I thought the Florida coach was thinking. Just glad to see the Vols finally win that game because that used to be such a fun, fun rivalry and they were 1-16 in last 17 meetings.

I wonder if Colorado would take him back
I watched some of the CU-UCLA game today. Painful reminder of some of our defenses under past coaches. I don't miss the days of getting gashed for 10+ yds/play over and over. Hard to see CU winning a game this year. Other than Josh McNown's kid (true freshman, very generously listed at 175 lbs), they are a complete mess. Problem is, not sure CU can afford to fire Dorrell. After the Mel Tucker fiasco, there were some pretty large buyouts put in Dorrell's contract. If they fire him before the end of this calendar year, they owe him $7m plus. After Jan. 1, it drops to $4m but it's not clear they can even afford that. Best case scenario is that MSU fires Tucker and then poaches Karl Dorrell from CU. The more I think about it, the more I like that scenario.
