There are a lot of comments being made about Art that don’t sync very well what we’ve heard from Bret. I think I’m going to go with the coach who has this team at 5-1 with one shoulda won rather than with those who likely had Illinois at four wins on the season.

Do you actually think BB is going to talk smack on his players? Good coaches won't do that. We can win some games with Art. Consistency is the key and with Art in the game he has not proven that so far in his college career.

Hmmmm, I’m not going to talk smack either.

Neither do I......

I love all the players on the team. I will say I don't have he most confidence in Art. That isn't talking smack.

Art helped win the Nebraska game last season and manage the Iowa game this season. I hope the best for Art and the program, same time his track record isn't the best.

I have two random questions in the back of my head if Art starts for us.

How many games has he won for Illinois as a starter? 0 wins (He didn't win the Penn St game) Teams that have had time to plan for him starting have done well against us.

Will he turn the ball over? Has 6 TDs and 5 Turnovers as QB here at Illinois. Had all 6 of his TDs in 1st 3 games in 2021 and has been 13+ months since he has had a TD.

I try to bring about facts with some of my rationale. I will say Illinois has a great running game and defense. I think we can win some games with Art and can buck some of those trends. Best case scenario is we don't have to rely on seeing to much Art this year.

let’s just hope Tommy’s ankle can be fixed in less than a week .
We don't see Devito until Nebraska I think. We get McCray back tho, maybe go a little heavy on the o-line, ball control, run run run and a little play action to the TE's to mix things up. In staff we trust. Could be another Colts vs Broncos redux in Memorial Stadium this weekend.

Is Tommy better than Art. Yes. Is the O-line better this year than last? Could be.

My point was, if you read back through the comments, some of them are absolutely brutal, and that’s uncalled for. You have to wonder about some peoples’ personal lives.

Find me a fanbase who's team and QB are the best they've seen in 10+ years who wouldn't be freaked out from inserting the back-up QB. No matter how good or bad the back-up is.
There are no guarantees that 2023 will be better than 2022, so best to go all in with hope for this team. If people are scared of this team collapsing like the 2011 Chicago Bears when they put in Caleb Hanie and tanked the season, it'd be hard to blame them for that feeling.

Looks like we will jump Utah, NC State, Mississippi St and Kansas......and maybe Texas.

GUESS: Illini #20

I think #20 is right, but I can’t imagine we jump a team ahead of us that won (Texas). Assuming Utah loses tonight, I think those other four are the ones we jump.

I know this
we have an excellent shot at finishing above ND at the end of the season

how many bad losses at home does Freeman get ?

That should be real close. The advantage the Illini have is teams in the Big 12, ACC and PAC 12 start playing against each other (ranked teams) starting next week like TCU vs Ok St. Penn State still has to play OSU so the bye will allow us to move inside the top 20 line going into the Neb game.

Stanford (1-4 before ND game) 16 - ND 14 at Notre Dame. Their first FBS win in year
Can you believe that ND was ranked 5th pre-season and still at #8 week 2? By the way, I am a firm believer in the the ND is overrated almost every year. They may deserve to be ranked but IMO they are almost always ranked higher than they should be.
