I was also under the assumption we were in the 8/9 game, maybe 7 at best.

But look at the current 7 seeds on the matrix...our resume is better than all of them IMO.
I think the assumption is that we only win the Iowa game on the schedule, then 8/9 game is the likely destination. If Illinois happens to go 2-2 and maybe wins a game in the B1G tourney, then a 6 or 7 seed is highly likely. Most seedings for brackets are as of today (and as of today, the Illini are definitely in the 6 or 7 seed range), rather than predictive of where they think the team will be on Selection Sunday.

I'd keep in mind that not all of these brackets have been updated since the MSU game. If you go to Bracket Matrix you can see that there are a lot of 5-seed and even some 3-seed and 4-seed predictions pulling the average down that were last updated on 2/15 or earlier. A lot of the more recent brackets have us at 6 or 7, and our average is 5.67 putting us at the lowest lowest ranked 5-seed. I think it's likely Bracket Matrix will have us as a 6-seed relatively soon, possibly even a 7.
Man, when I'm right, I'm right.

Bracket matrix now has us as the lowest 6 seed. Possibly could drop to a 7-seed even before the Duke game.

Starting your see more 8-seed predictions. There are 9 brackets that have us as a 5-seed, all of which have not been updated since before the Wisconsin game (and some before MSU).

Could.

Anxious for certain.
Thinking with my head I see us at either 18-13 or 17-14 if we stumble at home against the idiot squwalks....................

not how I thought this season would end pre BTT................NOT EVEN CLOSE.............

our warts have turned into malignant tumors with little hope for any extended run in the Dance if we actually make it.....the double digit losses are becoming alarming and worrisome to me , as the Selection committee basing a lot on how a team is trending at the end of a season or so I've been told.........

18-13 with a loss in first BTT game going to 18-14 , or , 17-14 with same 1st game loss in BTT means 17-15.........those scenarios shout scary thoughts to me.........maybe only way to get a high seed is by the way of the NIT and that would be so catastrophic to me and the future direction of the Illini going forward......................

blame it on injuries , flu bug , young team roster , inept coaching ,,,,,,BUT SOMETHING OR SOMEBODY needs to stand up and take the blame..............they really really do..........................just a disappointing season so far and many potholes left to handle......

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.............................JMHO..........................

With the hand of your latest NL held warmly in yours, whisper: "19-12! ... Unless it's 18-13."

Iowa will be sent back to Iowa with another loss under their belts.

I say blame whoever is in charge of cleaning the locker room, washing the jerserys, not disinfecting the every single facility from top to bottom or guys not being aware enough to wash their hands.

It's absolutely ridiculous that our team has been having this issue since December. It's always something. Someone isn't doing their job and I don't put it on the coaches or players to make sure that everything is immaculate.

That said, this request is coming from a pool of people that couldn't get a jersey from being upside down as it got lifted to the rafters.

Expectations across the board are low.

I haven’t figured out the math but I’m actually feeling like it’s going to be a 5-12 matchup for Illinois- Mizzou. Committee like to get cute this way!!

Um, no. Missouri is not a 5 or anything like that. Illinois is not a 12 or anything like that either.
This is not accurate at all. Mizzou is currently NET 13, and all 6 of their losses are Quad 1 games. At the moment, Mizzou is right on the line of a 5 seed in many projected brackets, possibly a 6 seed. When all is said and done, they will likely be in a seed range of 4-6. Mizzou has a very solid resume for the most part (I hate having to say that). Crazy thing is that the win over Mizzou for Illinois is one of the signature wins that will help Illini in the end.

I do agree with your Illini comment though. Assuming one more win, the floor of the Illini is probably a 9 seed. Not sure why so many think that the Illini are on the bubble or trending for a 12 seed. The Illini resume this year is very similar to Michigan State last year (and they got a 9 seed) -- and the bubble this year is very weak. The Illini are in great shape (for safely making tourney) unless they lose out.

The Tigers beat Florida at Florida! Florida is becoming a Final Four favorite....

How about us as a 7 seed vs 10 seed WV?

Considering how everything has gone down over the past year, that might be the biggest game in Brad's tenure.

LOL, no, it wouldn't. It's either Iowa State or Loyola, depending how you feel about Brad.

Agree to disagree. Going into the Iowa St game the general feeling was we accomplished our goal, we got to the 2nd weekend, we are playing a really good Iowa St team, and if they beat us we just tip our cap. Loyola game fans were nervous, but IIRC the general consensus was we would pull it out.

Playing WV, Frazier, Hansberry, and Sencire would add a completely different type of pressure to the game. If we got pantsed by them, nearly the entire fanbase would start second guessing BU, questioning the moves he makes the entire off-season.
