Not a bad outcome. With the Rutgers loss, Illinois is guaranteed at the very least a 9 seed and a first round bye in the BTT.
We did last year, with the exception of being in UCONN's region. The matchups fit perfectly for the first 3 games. Maybe we can get lucky again.I think a lot depends on match ups. I think a physical taller team gives us problems. If we get past the first round the bracket could be favorable depending on upsets
We normally don’t have that luck
Oops, your right I found a scenario where we get a 10. (ILL loses out, IND and NEB win out, ORE going 2/3)I think we can still get the 10?
If we beat Michigan and Purdue ...that's two Q1 wins. That would be optimal.
I wonder which would activate the BU-haters more: a close loss to Vandy and out in the first round, or a win against Vandy and then getting thumped by Auburn?Lundardi put out bracket today that has Illinois (8) v. Vanderbilt (9) and winner gets Auburn. I don't know that Illinois beats Vanderbilt to get in position to get thumped by Auburn.
Thank God a chimp throwing feces against a wall is more accurate than Lunardi, because I would HATE that setup.Lundardi put out bracket today that has Illinois (8) v. Vanderbilt (9) and winner gets Auburn. I don't know that Illinois beats Vanderbilt to get in position to get thumped by Auburn.
Unless we get out of the 8/9 game its going to be a short stay. The more than likely scenario is we win enough to get out of the 8/9, only to lose to the 10 seed lol.I wonder which would activate the BU-haters more: a close loss to Vandy and out in the first round, or a win against Vandy and then getting thumped by Auburn?
Really? If we lose out, we finish 10-10. Oregon could go 2-1 and finish 11-9. Indiana wins out and goes 11-9. Nebraska wins out and goes 10-10. We would then be tied for 9th in the standings with Nebraska and lost to them H2H. This would put us in 10th and we'd play in the first round. With the Rutgers loss, Illinois is guaranteed at the very least a 9 seed and a first round bye in the BTT.
Win out of lose out....for seeding, it's probably the best tournament seeding outcome.Unless we get out of the 8/9 game its going to be a short stay. The more than likely scenario is we win enough to get out of the 8/9, only to lose to the 10 seed lol.
In 1988, both OU and Kansas had relative easy paths to the Final Four before their fateful title game. Those Jayhawks beat 11-seed Xavier, 14-seed Murray State, 7-seed Vanderbilt and 4-seed Kansas State, before knocking off 2-seed Duke.We did last year, with the exception of being in UCONN's region. The matchups fit perfectly for the first 3 games. Maybe we can get lucky again.
I thought a team couldn't play a team in the same conference until the Sweet Sixteen? Vandy is in the SEC, right?Lundardi put out bracket today that has Illinois (8) v. Vanderbilt (9) and winner gets Auburn. I don't know that Illinois beats Vanderbilt to get in position to get thumped by Auburn.

NCAA Basketball Tournament Selections 101 How the Process Works and What the Committee Considerswww.ncaa.org
Per the attached, two in conference teams cannot face each other until E8 if they played each other 3 or more times. I do not see the "S16 rule" anymore, but I am sure that the committee will do best to avoid these matchups until S16, but it may be impossible given large number of teams getting im from SEC and B1G.
Vandy and Auburn only play each other once in regular season, so this rule does not apply to them.
Honestly, if they stay in the 8/9 game. You want Houston as the 1 seed.Unless we get out of the 8/9 game its going to be a short stay. The more than likely scenario is we win enough to get out of the 8/9, only to lose to the 10 seed lol.
Ok now we are guaranteed at least a single bye with Nebraska's loss today.Oops, your right I found a scenario where we get a 10. (ILL loses out, IND and NEB win out, ORE going 2/3)

Ignore Lunardi. Here's why. He's a lunatic.Lundardi put out bracket today that has Illinois (8) v. Vanderbilt (9) and winner gets Auburn. I don't know that Illinois beats Vanderbilt to get in position to get thumped by Auburn.
I hear you, but Kentucky has 9 Q1 wins. They’re 9-9. Point still stands though, ignore Lunardi.Ignore Lunardi. Here's why. He's a lunatic.

One might think these two teams would be seeded identically --- or at the most, one seed apart in the NCAA tourney.
TEAM 1 -- KENTUCKY: 3-seed
TEAM 2 -- ILLINOIS: 8-seed
