Annoying of Rutgers to even give us a glimmer of hope, lol.
You have watched the tournament before, right? Your bracket is gonna be busted early if you keep that mindset.Only five teams have a legitimate shot to win a title-Arizona, Michigan, Duke, UConn, and Florida. It’s going to be an incredibly boring tournament until the Final Four.
At least Holy Cross had little chance of advancing much further. Also, the standings in that league are pretty wild. Navy is #1 at 17-1. Lehigh is #2 at 11-7.
The near comeback still managed to take 1pt off MSU's KenPom net rating, dropping them to #10. Hopefully that counts for something in the minds of the committeeAnnoying of Rutgers to even give us a glimmer of hope, lol.
Loyola Chicago’s season comes to an end at 7-23.
They also play SaturdayRegular season. They still play in the A10 tournament starting Wednesday.
Why is this exactly what I was thinking the entire comeback by Rutgers...If this were Illinois closing out this game against Rutgers at home like MSU is this board would implode
In all honesty, didn't we have this last year against Northwestern? If this were Illinois closing out this game against Rutgers at home like MSU is this board would implode
Honestly don’t remember. I just looked at the game log.In all honesty, didn't we have this last year against Northwestern?
Here's the postgame after that game:Honestly don’t remember. I just looked at the game log.
We were up 22 at half, and NW cut it to 8 with 45 seconds left and we won by 11.
I also think this Rutgers team is a lot worse than that NW team.
How have they been lucky? NW is the only close game they've won this year.I swear if we had Purdue’s luck we would be 17-2 in conference right now.
Oregon at mackey. How have they been lucky? NW is the only close game they've won this year.
We just need anyone else's luck. Losing 4 games in OT/last second kind of stings how close we could be to 19-1 in the conference this year. How have they been lucky? NW is the only close game they've won this year.
We have 7 losses. 5 of them by a combined 13 points. If we were in the top 100 in luck, we’d be 26-4 on our way to a 1 seed.Illinois is 305th in Kenpom luck metric. Purdue is 200.
Miami OH is 13th (which feels kinda low tbh)

Could interpret those numbers as an inability for IL to make plays down the stretch to win tight games. And a lot of those plays aren't necessarily on the offensive end. Some key defensive rebounds wins a few more games. Michigan beat Iowa last night with a few defensive stops at the end. Iowa hung with Michigan because they turned them over a lot. Some was sloppy play by Michigan but Iowa does get their hands on the ball.We have 7 losses. 5 of them by a combined 13 points. If we were in the top 100 in luck, we’d be 26-4 on our way to a 1 seed.
It is never easy to decide POY. I think Fears and it's not close. Your argument about Yaxel could go for Wagler. But, without Smith Purdue is Oregon this year. Smith is All Big at the least. My problem with Yaxel winning POY would be how much by committee their team is. There's numerous nights where he isn't their best player.
How I'd personally rank it:
1. Fears
2. Wagler
3. Yaxel
First team:
Stirtz, Fears, Wagler, Sanford, Lendenborg.
I agree 100%…it has to be a formula of either the best player on the best team vs the best player by a mile who CARRIED a team to being really good vs the clearly best player in the conference on a mediocre team.My problem with Yaxel winning POY would be how much by committee their team is. There's numerous nights where he isn't their best player.
