I really can't stand either team out of Michigan. For my sanity, need to see them both take a step back next year.

My problem with Yaxel winning POY would be how much by committee their team is. There's numerous nights where he isn't their best player.

How I'd personally rank it:

1. Fears
2. Wagler
3. Yaxel

First team:

Stirtz, Fears, Wagler, Sanford, Lendenborg.

We have 7 losses. 5 of them by a combined 13 points. If we were in the top 100 in luck, we’d be 26-4 on our way to a 1 seed.
Could interpret those numbers as an inability for IL to make plays down the stretch to win tight games. And a lot of those plays aren't necessarily on the offensive end. Some key defensive rebounds wins a few more games. Michigan beat Iowa last night with a few defensive stops at the end. Iowa hung with Michigan because they turned them over a lot. Some was sloppy play by Michigan but Iowa does get their hands on the ball.
Either IL gets nastier on the defensive end or the Ivisic brothers and/or KB has to start shooting better from 3 for IL to win games past the first weekend of the NCAAs. My guess is if help comes it will be in shooting better. I don't see them remedying a lack of quickness and athleticism on the defensive end. Also the front line is soft

It is never easy to decide POY. I think Fears and it's not close. Your argument about Yaxel could go for Wagler. But, without Smith Purdue is Oregon this year. Smith is All Big at the least.

I agree 100%…it has to be a formula of either the best player on the best team vs the best player by a mile who CARRIED a team to being really good vs the clearly best player in the conference on a mediocre team.

Unfortunately I think this year’s formula should favor Fears. MSU would be lost without him
