Indiana played no one in nonconference except the worst Marquette team since 1963-1964 (when Ed Hickey was coaching them) and Louisville. Louisville blew them out. I don't think mediocre Big 10 teams should be rewarded for playing soft non conference schedules when it comes to being on the bubble. They did win at UCLA but got blown out by a lousy USC team. They also just lost at home to the Kitties. Could Northwestern go to Miami of Ohio and beat them? I doubt it. I pass on Indiana. In the last three weeks they have been blown out by the Illini, Sparty and Purdue.
All teams should be evaluated on their full body of work, not just non-con. Efficiency metrics don't reward anyone for a soft schedule, and will even penalize a close win against a bad team. Resume metrics do suffer from this problem, but those are the only thing in MOH's favor.

Emphasizing the last few games is reasonable since it could indicate a trend, but I wouldn't go crazy with it. Humans often overdo it with recency bias.

Appreciate this scenario, as it proves the point perfectly: Northwestern would be favored in that matchup, let alone “have no chance of winning”… Miami OH was only a 5 favorite last night against #227 NET Ohio… Northwestern is #69

CBS revealed their announcer pairings for the tournament earlier this week and moved around a few talents. The biggest one of relevance to those of on here is that Robbie Hummel got moved up to the announce team with Kevin Harlan and Stan Van Gundy. That means Hummel will not only call games the first weekend but also will call one of the regionals. He'll still be part of the announce team for the Final Four and national title game on Westwood One radio.

Ok, either we have a tech called for hanging on the rim or we do not. Z barely hangs on the rim and has been tee’d up but this clown from ISU hangs on the rim, pulls himself up then finally lets go and nothing is called.

Terrible loss by UCONN. Should easily be the worst by a top 5 team this season. Marquette is awful.

For all the nut hugging that goes on about Alex Karaban by media/Hurley, he was atrocious today while he played every minute.

If I’m Underwood I would show the players that UConn score. You can’t just roll the ball out there. You have to MAKE good things happen.

I’m just curious, what will be the opinion of the “Miami sucks” gang on this board if Miami beats some meh 5 or 6 seed P4 team in the first round?

I’ve watched a lot of their games this year. They move the ball well and can really shoot. They are also kinda slow, bad defensively, rather unathletic and a bunch of skinny dudes who may well get abused by P4 athletes… but, with the way they shoot, they can knock a lot of teams off on the right night (i.e. Oakland v Kentucky a few years ago).

I'd say it should move them up some in the rankings. Can't say how much without all the specifics. Winning a few games would do a lot more

Edit: a single close win as a ~10pt underdog just doesn't move the needle a ton after 30+ games

I have a problem with mediocre/lousy Big 10/Big 12/SEC teams like Indiana making the tournament, especially when they have weak non conference schedules. You have to fill out the at large team so give it to a team like Miami of Ohio that did something only a few teams have done in the past 50 years.
