Bummer, MSU.

I hope we can pull Edey outside the paint and booty ball our way to victory.

My bad guys and gals. Turned the game on and it was 26-19 MSU. Ever since then it has been all Purdue.
Sorry I Love You GIF
angry how dare you GIF

Sparty had their chances though. As long as we handle business with our last 2 games, Wisky could be on the giving side of a 2022 repeat. Probably a 90% chance that doesn't happen

Now that Purdue has clinched at least a share…let down game? 😂 Probably not but will be tough nonetheless

Alright, welp that made the path a lot tougher for a BTT 1 seed. Now we need to win both of our last 2 games, have Purdue lose both of their last 2 games, and have Nebraska finish above MSU in the standings. Basically, Purdue's magic number is down to 1 (vs. us) for the 1 seed, and our magic number is down to 1 (vs. NW) for the 2 seed. Current projected BTT seeding odds as it pertains to us:

1 seed
Purdue: 97.7%
Illinois: 2.3%

2 seed:
Illinois: 93.6%
Northwestern: 4.1%
Purdue: 2.3%

3 seed:
Illinois: 4.1%

Unfortunate for NW but those injuries are catching up with them

Puff Johnson? Sounds like a gay film star
I don't know what this is in reference to, but I think the Illini recruited him back in 2019. Illinois was on his final seven list. But I am not sure if it was reciprocated.

I don’t see much difference between a 2 or 3 seed. Am i wrong?
A 2 seed would mean we're more likely to get Iowa, Minnesota, or the 10 seed in the quarters. A 3 seed means we're more likely to get MSU, Wisconsin, or Nebraska in the Quarters. Minnesota and Iowa have been playing better of late and Wisconsin worse, but MSU or Nebraska aren't easy either. So all depends on who you think makes a better opponent.

The games yesterday didn't result in much movement in the seeding, however it did give Purdue and us a game away from locking in our seeds and separating ourselves from the rest of the field. Iowa's win was a huge one for them as it cements them as getting a 1st round bye, as well as giving them an outside shot at the double bye if everything breaks their way and they pull off the home win over us. Wisconsin with the loss is now on the outside looking in for projected double byes again as they continue playing do-si-do with Nebraska who swaps back into the 4. Meanwhile, PSU, Rutgers, Indiana, OSU, and Maryland are now all expected to finish with 8-12 records, resulting in a 5 way tie. I am not sure that has ever happened before in the history of the B10. Tiebreakers right now put PSU on top of that group with them and Rutgers being granted single byes, while Indiana, OSU, and Maryland would be relegated to the 1st round. After the games complete today, I'll work on building and releasing my annual BTT seed odds chart. I'm hoping there is some separation of the middle and bottom teams so I don't lose my mind. Having 5 teams tied with multiple games still in hand against each other makes for a very arduous process unfortunately. Oh and almost forgot, Michigan still sucks.

Oh and almost forgot, Michigan still sucks.

Never forget.

Also, am absolutely delighted that Maryland is headed for the 13th seed in the BTT. lol. Can only hope that the absolute shame of losing to them at home (and PSU on the road) pushes our Illini to greater March heights.

Just said the same thing. When the season starts, it all looks good. CBS ends up with these two games and Illinois vs Purdue gets Peacock.
I still scratch my head over this. No one could possibly have thought last summer that Purdue-Illinois in early March would be a less attractive matchup than OSU-Michigan or IU-MD. I've assumed since then that because of NBC's capturing of significant BT football rights they would also be thrown a bone on the "Peacock Tuesday" basketball matchups.

Even so, when I saw last fall the Purdue @ Illinois game was scheduled for 'Co(k Tuesday I tasted some reflux. Just an abomination for that on to be on Tuesday night on the 'Co(k rather than prime time Sunday on CBS, where I believe it was last year (I can't recall, just remember that it was on the final Sunday afternoon of the season and I was listening to Brian and Deon call it while driving the length of Virginia through March snow flurries.)

Indiana has gone a big run after being down by double digits. Not great, as we would really prefer for MD to stay in the top 75 of the net. Currently at 70.

Now Maryland is down by 11 at the under 4. Super.
